We just need safety warnings for people who are new to the internet. Mentally prepare them for everything they could possibly come in contact with. If you want to make use of the internet you will need to grow a thicker skin instead of taking everything seriously and personally. People that are easily offended or emotionally fragile really have no business on the internet.

Or people could jsut become nicer. Everyone expects nice people to develop thicker skin. They want kind people to become callous and cold to the world. We need to stop enabling people's bad behavior. We all need thinner skin. We need more compassion for one another. We need to consider other people's feelings. We need a world where people aren't awful for the sake of being awful. Whether or not you believe a world like that can exist, it's something we need to encourage; not discourage.

When we tell people to develop a thicker skin, what we're really doing is excusing people's bad behavior. That's what we need to stop. We need to stop telling good people their feelings aren't important and start telling jerks their behavior isn't wanted.

Personally, I would have called the BLM out for being a terrible BLM. If a BLM can't handle a pull because "it's too big" then they are a bad BLM and should either learn to play the job adequately or learn another job that it's a bit more forgivable to be lazy on. (Hint to that BLM: there isn't one).

Twelve forbid that a BLM should ever have to use its CC tools.

They not saying to develop thicker skin to become cold and callous but people don't need to have such thin skin where offended by everything. Now if someone calls someone "a fat stupid ugly slob" ok that uncalled for and should be offended by that but if someone just says "those glasses are ugly" that nothing to be offended about. These are just examples I sure could fine plenty better examples out there of what I'm trying to say.

I've had someone get extremely offended by me talking about insects. Bugs. How big the insects are here where I live, that's literally all I was talking about with someone and this person got offended enough to kick me from their LS. No joke.

Was I being mean/insensitive/whatever, or should they have just had thicker skin?

the tank and healer keep going while u stayed back w/o fighting only because a blm "acid-spited" you?...and argued back and forth ? gez , when im healing or tanking and the dps start fighting over stupid things , i feel like a dad watching 2 kids fight over a toy , in the end it comes to getting the toy to you so no1 wins....

no1 like bad behavior , but u vote dismis him , drop the party or ignore chat ....arguing back is giving this ppl more ammo to throw back at you , u learn that in school...

the OP describes perfectly why I completely stopped using the chat when I join DF. I just go in, kill stuff and leave I ran into people like that way to often.
Not sure why this is becoming more common but it can't be helped. Only way to avoid this is to run DF roulettes in Full Party out of FC/LS/Friendslist.

People get high on the rep list with certain clears that they feel like they have the server to back them up due to their rep. I had one person boasting about how he cleared A6S and we were beneath him. He was so serious about it, too.

While there's always been a large amount of player that don't show much respect, (especially in duty finder..) There's just as many nice players. The bad experiences just stand out more in your brain than the good ones.

Another issue however, is people think they can treat players however they want because it's just a game. It's not real. But it's still real people on the other end. A person sitting in front of a screen, just like you. It's very much real.
