One of the reasons I play a lot less for sure, as well as only with friends, when possible. I think it's in part game design - it's really all geared towards rushing, so no one has patience.

Rushing is a good thing since it allows more things to be done/experienced. Time is something physically(relativity equations) proven impossible to "buy" back. That's sad, I know.
Agree.I think respect has to go both ways. I find players who call me elitist or asshole player as most people would call it, because I simply can't put up with people whos not willing to listen when I'm simply putting my OWN TIME, into helping. Then I simply get replies saying I need to get a life, it's just a game, it's my subscription and I can do whatever I want. Well that's fine, but if you going to waste some one elses subscription, you better on your own or simply hang out with people with mindset, and we all know how well that goes.
There is a kick function, maybe you should have used it :|
There are always bad apples in the community, always has been, it feels like theres more because they are a loud minority. Just ignore and move on or kick, file a report etc etc.

To me respect is something that is earned, not given freely to every hooligan that I run into in DF. Which you would have lost from me when you took the passive aggressive way out and just stopped dpsing instead of sucking it up and playing what you signed up for, simply because someone was saying stuff you didn't like you hindered the entire group. The word you're looking for is politeness. With all the daily homework SE gives level 60 players is it any surprise that people get annoyed when people go slow in instances, when they just want to get everything done as well as maybe level a new job to play.

Well as I see it if you're using DF exclusively, expect to have bad apples /random people= mix results/. If you use party finder you can weed out and find like minded people who you can get along with do content with, if not thats what the blacklist option is really used for not exclusively rmt's. Also I think linkshell/free companys are way under used they should be the first option you go for and advertised every so often to find people to do stuff with on your server. The duty finder should be the your very last option and only when necessary well that my two cents /shrug
