Class help...

Hey everyone,

So I've played a Bard for a while, like it but feel like a change. So I worked up to get to a machinist (Ive owned the game for maybe 2 months? Little less)

Now, i know that I've only JUST hit Machinist but wow, I felt...immediately confused and partially underwhelmed. I felt like Machinist was going to be a bit more flashy, some interesting moves and showmanship to the skills but I feel so lackluster haha.

That said, the skills make very little sense to me and I feel like that's...not a great start.

Would anyone be able to recommend a class for me to try some DPS in? I like some bursty damage, high numbers are always fun. But I like to have some flash and fun while having the class feel somewhat interactive.

Good burst and big numbers? Black Mage is a pretty safe bet. Their rotation at 60 is quite flashy and 10k+ Fire IV crits are always a pleasant thing to see.

I was thinking about Black Mage to be honest, haven't ever really played a magic caster in an MMO so it may be a fun trip.

I have started pugilist too which is also a bit of fun. Any thoughts?

MCH have big bursts too, but BLM have a high dps overall

Mnk is probably the worst job in the game for burst and big numbers. MNK is my main and probably always will be... but I don't expect big numbers out of it. Should keep in mind that while MNK is not a big numbers job it is a high DPS job.

You should also know that Brd and Mch are a bit more like a caster after level 50.

BLM is very pretty to play but end game with it is a bitch. While many of the posters on here are end-game raiders, be prepared to not get past the skill cap necessary for raiding.
I'm currently exploring other classes because BLM is just so frustrating to play with respect to raiding.
SMN is very not flashy and not bursty. MNK is bursty but not really in the high numbers department (I mean individual numbers, overall it's the highest DPS).
I'm going to experiment with melee classes next.
