Thread: The Fold > Lv.60

I would like to see "Wolves' Den - The Fold" be bumped up to Lv60.

Why?

• To return the option of a 4v4 arena with only one rule: kill the other team. No gimmicks.
• Recent job and casting adjustments address certain old issues with the Fold and are more welcoming to non-AST comps.
• It should be an easy switch and should not take much, if any, development time.
• For fun.

But will it be popular?
Probably not. It would probably only be as popular as it was before. That is, mostly kept to solo queue night every Friday and the team scrims every now and then.

Won't it take away from Feast queues?
Possibly, but not by a lot. People will play what they want to play, and shouldn't be restricted to only one option.

Damages from jobs across the board are high, as is burst in general...
Yes it is, but metas are quite different in Fold and you won't know how it plays out until it's attempted. Job balances made in Feast should have all forms of 4v4 in mind.

Do you just not like Feast?
It's plenty of fun! Just not what I had in mind when they advertised a "competitive format."

Maybe make Fold matches best 2 out of 3 or something too. It's short duration was the only thing off putting to me.

I like the Bo3 suggestion - The Fold suffers from really bad queue:gameplay ratios, especially for newer players.

I can definitely stand behind Bo3. My thoughts were to simply have it as an option if teams wanted to scrim on it.

Disagree. Before Feast came out, it was a common strat to drop the rest of the team first. Fold being so cutthroat will put healers back to using VIT as they used to, so it would still be favorable at times to drop the rest of the team.

+1. While they're at it, I wouldn't mind if they raised the level cap of Secure and Slaughter as well and put in a "PvP Roulette" which slotted players into the first available match in any game mode (excluding 4v4 restricted modes).

I love the Feast. It's great fun. I even enjoy the medal drops and mechanics of Heavy Medal stacks, more so since the most recent patch. It's a solid mode that requires more thought and awareness than the previous PvP modes we've had, but it's nice to have some variety. This kind of change should have been done a long time ago.

That said, there are a few things I'd like to know. Firstly, queue options:

One of the biggest reasons for the solo queue in Feast was because of match fixing and an unfair/unfriendly queue environment to solo players. Even Friday Night Fights were marred by the occasional group that would run as a party and ruin the fun for everyone else. So, would we want SE to change the solo queue option to be strictly solo (like Feast)? Personally, I like solo queues as an option, but I know some people really get irked that they can't queue with friends or carry a pocket healer with them.

Secondly: Rankings. Out of curiosity, would you guys like to see rankings applied to the Fold? If so, in what form would you like rankings to apply? Would Feast and Fold share rankings or no? Would only solo queues apply to your rank, or would the party matches apply as well? Should party and solo queues have distinct rankings from one another (I'm pretty sure we'll all agree on this one, but might as well ask)?

Personally, IF SE raised the lvl cap of Fold to 60, what I'd like to see is solo Fold and solo Feast matches both apply to the same ranking. I would also like to see party Fold and party Feast be given their own seasonal ranking. This one's a little out there, but (again there's a big hypothetical "IF" here) IF SE did this and applied a "PVP Roulette" (which would have to be for solo-queues only) I would also like to see daily Roulette provide a PvP Rank point bonus to your solo ranking, provided you win the match. That might help with some of the current concerns over the current ranking system being too strict.

I agree 100% with you, Atreus. I'd love to bring The Fold up to level 60 as more of a fun thing, no rewards or anything (seasonal). It would be good 4v4 practice too to help people get used to light party PvP before entering The Feast - Ranked. 4v4 is very different than 8v8 feast.

That is what people wanted since Wolves Den came out :/. It would be nice if they just made a map queue for the PVP games. Just put them all in a roulette when you load up you will get a different map :/.
