Suggesting a design for a /tell RMT filter

    (PART 1)
    Hello,

This is just a creative idea of mine, feel free to add more to it. I think it would be helpful to those server communities out there that are experiencing significant RMT spam via /tell.

Here are the things I think a good filter should do (based on my past experience coding programs to identify hacking attempts and identifying original DNS request based on a log):

-determine the message sent is a RMT spam message if it fits ALL of the following criteria:
    1) sender and receiver are not on each other's friendlist
    2) sender and receiver do not belong to the same FC
    3) sender and receiver do not share membership in any LS
    4) length of message exceeds X characters
    5) message contains known RMT URL address
    6) message contains rare-in-conversation symbols known to be used for the sake of bypassing URL filter*
    7) words "sale", "delivery", and any other frequently used words used to advertise RMT is present in the message*

    (PART 2)
    8) sender meets the following criteria:*
    a. sends out Y messages per minute
    b. sends out repeated identical message(s) (possibly in an alternating pattern) to different receivers
    c. has not finished the MSQ
    d. length and consistent playtime since character creation

*has notable room for improvement in terms of specification

    Things I've taken into consideration:
-Bots can add each other to friendlist, so no use putting empty friendlist on #8.
-Bots generally are not in the same FC or LS as active players.
-Unlike real player's messages to each other, their messages always have to contain certain length and certain characters.
-Difficulty of advertisement may lead to more ferocious hacking attempts by RMT perpetrators to use existent players accounts for advertisement, thus prompting a need for stronger encryption/login security features.

This may or may not be the best idea to counter RMT, but I think it's a good start brainstorming.

IMO, the simplest solution is to add filters that will allow you to set minimum character level to send you a tell. If you want it a bit better, then add white list features as well.

RMT are not going to risk having a level 60 character nuked by SE so that they can send their RMT tells.

Well, we already know bots can lvl to 60 in armies in openworld, this would easily bypass the min lvl filter

No but the programs implemented on them have been used by some players (I personally knew a botalan grinder who was bragging about how nice it is to come back to see his character automatically leveled; he got kicked from my old FC for it). I'm saying this could easily be put into the rmt /tell bots so that they get to 60 at a steady rate, and THEN spam. Theres just gonna be a gap between when they implement the filter to when they can actually get their bots working again (til 60).
