Yep, even that DKP process can be done on the guild website which pretty much all serious raiding guilds have, so it simply takes an existing tool in game, and even then the use of said addon does not make someone toxic, random groups can't even utilise a DKP addon so theres no requirements there since this is where most of the nay sayers slot in, all serious raid groups will have requirements that are not even addon related so that point will always be moot.

Heres the funny thing with cleaning up or optimising the UI, people who optimise the default UI already give them selves an advantage over those who don't, so the addition of UI optimisation through addons doesn't actually change this. All this will do is give them more control over what they have been doing anyways, however this is a sony issue and hopefully this gets sorted.

A lot of guilds in WoW started requiring their members to have a specific DPS meter, OMEN (hate meter), and Deadly Boss Mods (a callout system for boss mechanics). It got to a point that game mechanics where starting to be made to incorporate the use of these addons, trying to make the battles more difficult while still allowing people to use the addons.

In essence, no one required add ons, but the people playing the game started requiring it of members. Then there is the other side, where people started kicking players from dungeons for not meeting DPS standards (standards which were usually bogus). While not requiring one to use an addon, the addon started having a negative impact.

The game's UI is likely hard coded, not designed with addon support in mind. In order to add decent addon support a framework would first have to be built, then the current UI would probably need to be rebuilt using that framework.

WoW launched with addon support. Many add ons created for WoW we're incorporated directly into WoW's native UI. Addon's provide a way of allowing the players to find ways of improving the UI and adding functionality to game.

Not to sure what Sony has to do w/ this. They allowed UT3 for the PS3 to use addons written and created on the PC. Addons are run within a protected sandbox anyway.

It was for accuracy. If there's bosses in FFXIV that have "enrages", or kill it within a certain amount of time or you wipe, it's completely unfair to the players to have the stance they have against parsing. If damage matters, seeing who's doing that damage matters.

It's not unreasonable to expect everyone to pull their fair share of the weight. If they're going to try to keep trying to hide damage from us, or be randomly militant against parsing, then every single boss in the game's mechanics should be based on positioning, kill orders, etc, and absolutely zero boss fights or phases where something has to be killed in x amount of time.
