    In essence, no one required add ons, but the people playing the game started requiring it of members. Then there is the other side, where people started kicking players from dungeons for not meeting DPS standards (standards which were usually bogus). While not requiring one to use an addon, the addon started having a negative impact.

    It was for accuracy. If there's bosses in FFXIV that have "enrages", or kill it within a certain amount of time or you wipe, it's completely unfair to the players to have the stance they have against parsing. If damage matters, seeing who's doing that damage matters.

    It's not unreasonable to expect everyone to pull their fair share of the weight. If they're going to try to keep trying to hide damage from us, or be randomly militant against parsing, then every single boss in the game's mechanics should be based on positioning, kill orders, etc, and absolutely zero boss fights or phases where something has to be killed in x amount of time.

    I honestly think it goes deeper then that, if parsers were such a problem then the API can be made to ignore the battle log, you can only make an addon within the API framework, if the framework does not read the battle log then you can't make an ingame parser, something else is playing a bigger role to this then DPS meters, SE are just using it as a cover up for a bigger reason and I think the consoles themselves or Sony is placing this restriction.

    They already said that if we do get an API, it's going to be cosmetic modifications only. There's zero reasons not to have it implemented it already, unless they have a parity deal with Sony or something.

    Pretty much the question like I asked in the opening post was, what could this be, this seems more like a sony issues then a specific console, DPS meter aside, what could be stopping the PS4 from running action bar addons or addons like weakaura, something is up and its not just PS3 can't handle it.

    So they have once again admitted that consolws are holding the game back but not for the usual reasons.

    And people want this game to come to Xbone and don't think there would be even more limitations.

    Boy I sure am glad they've been promising the release of addon support since 2.1, although now I guess we can finally add it to the list of pipe dream additions like that accessible housing system they've been talking about since the end of 1.0
