    Casting speed does not change your global cool down. Also currently spell speed affects DoT damage, which is more noticeable on a class which uses 4-5 regularly for damage. The reason it is more valuable on BLM is because they have cast times longer than the GCD.

    I haven't touched SMN since I got it to 50 in ARR, but I remember Spell Speed being this thing no SMN wanted (which is one point against Enhanced Pet Actions). The buff itself is funny because you do entirely forget about the proc and ask "wait, what was that and how does it happen?".

    I'd be in favor of that trait getting replaced by something else.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
