Dragoon's DPS Question!

Hello guys!

I want to know and compare my DPS to other Dragoons out there! I have 220 weapon with ilvl 223, a ridiculously 800 SS and around 460 Det and 700 Crit. On Sephirot EX fight I end up with around 1230 DPS. On Sephirot EX dummy, I kill it with 26 seconds left on the timer which gives me around 1590 DPS. On basic Dummy, I can get 1600+

Now I want to know, am I doing good with my current gear?

Yeah you're doing well.

However you could be doing like 100 or so more on Sephirot EXs. Try to capitalize the AoE phases with your DFDs, Doomspikes, and Geirskoguls.

Your stats don't do any justice neither. 700 crit and 800 skill speed is horrendous.

1590 is low for that gear level. At i225 with Sephirot weapon, I'm pushing over 1700 consistently on any of the dummies - I'm able to down the A8S dummy (and was able to/did at i222) with my current gear, which is a 1769 dps check. All of this is without food or potions.

At i220 or lower, I was also pulling 1400+ on Sephirot EX with the Seph weapon in hand, but that is also largely dependent on group comp - I had NIN+MCH for those runs.

My i210 alt DRG with the Brionac pulled 1279 on Sephirot EX with just a MCH, no NIN/AST in the party while getting 1 yellow/1 green with a yellow spread strategy, and pulled as high as 1322 with NIN/MCH.

Seph is a fight that's all about optimization on Dragoon, though, it has very little to do with your standing dps and much more to do with how well you maintain your uptime.

You should be ending the adds phase just before he falls off the edge at 1400-1500 or higher. If you're lower than that, your p1+2 needs work. If you're meeting that, your final phase needs work. If p1+2 need work, it's likely rotational difficulties such as holding cooldowns too long or moving in ways that loses you uptime or just using the wrong combos during add phase. You should keep Chaos Thrust flowing on the Cochma and use Full Thrusts on the Binahs, while weaving in gsk. Your second DFD in the fight should also be held for the first set of 3 Binah, you should be popping B4B on cooldown in the fight, including during the Binahs. The only time I hold it is just before his big arm sweep or before Pound Town, if I forgot to hold SSD for it. Elusive should be held and used for the FIRST or THIRD Earthshaker, if you get it (the one with flashy ground at the same time - run to the edge and Elusive back when the ground flashes and you'll be using it after damage calculation while dodging your pillar - just be sure you don't angle yourself into the spot where the party stacked!) and, iirc, using DFD on cooldown after that add phase allows you to DFD the adds in final phase, as well.


I'd need to see a video of your SSS attempts to be able to suggest how to improve that, though.

The runs on the 14th had MCH/AST
That 1480 run on the 19th had an extra DRG. No NIN, no MCH, no AST. That one is pretty close to my current gear, though without the two A5S drops I got on Thursday.
