My nephew is a little... Ugh!

Grr, this fickle boy! Well, we are only four years apart, but I am still the Elder!

I got upset with him when he very abruptly gave up his tank and took up healing, getting his cnj to 30 in a day. I asked him if was going to level whm just for the AF, much like he has with other jobs. He said no, then I told him if he means that, then he should already know that he is going to have to continue to level acn to add e4e to his utility belt. He said its not really needed. I told him don't bother sending me screen shots of his miqo'te in whm AF coz I don't wanna see it.

I feel I am being a little unfair. He should be able to level anything he wants. Part of me is angry because he chose the role I want to play, but I'm more upset that he isn't taking the time to really learn his jobs. He's playing like a high level noob, and I have bigger expectations from my padawan!

I'm kind of an elitist though, and I don't level quickly. Am I just being a bitchy aunt??

While he should get the cross class, I would say you are being more a b..... child than a b..... aunt. It's a game and he should play whatever class makes him have the most fun. Someone in the role of Aunt should understand that.

I don't see why you are putting such an emphasis on "Aunt" though, unless it is to stress that you are his senior and that it gives you some form of control over him.

Umm... How else am I supposed to refer to him? He's my nephew. I'm not a bitch (mostly), I actually see him and everyone as equals.

1000 character limit makes it difficult to tell the whole story, and I know how childish I am being. I feel horrible for telling him what I did, even after he apologized coz I was actually kind of hurt. But it had more to do with that he's not grouping with me for anything. Everytime he levels something new, I am more than willing to repeat dungeons, fates, etc. With him. A big reason why I unretired myself from gaming and spent hundreds of dollars to set up was to spend more time with him, which happened the first couple weeks, but now he's leaving me in dust, playing "how he likes to play".

I don't think I'm being entirely irrational. But I also know my silly emotions can cloud things.

I can totally sympathize OP, I bought my sister in law and ps3 back when ARR launched and literally told her I was only buying it for her so she'd play with me and my hubby on our Server. Yeaaaaah needless to say she went to a completely different server and never played with us but yet will complain randomly how she doesn't have anyone to do endgame with -_-

So my advice would be 2 things:
1. Ask your nephew straight out (without letting emotions get in the way) if he genuinely wants to level & spend time with you. Sometimes people get caught up in their own worlds & don't realize stuff like that.

2. If you are actually having fun playing FFXIV & it's not just a tool to spend time with family then try joining a Linkshell or Free Company. I can definitely see leveling alone as off putting & that's why it doesn't hurt to branch out & try to find like minded players. My hubby & I managed to meet some great people and started a small FC, we all play at the same pace & have fun together taking down content and leveling jobs.

OMG guys! I feel horrible! He has talked things out with me. He apologized, and said he got caught up in himself and couldn't see that he was leaving me in the dust, and understood why I felt like him leveling my main was like dirt to the face on top of that. He said if the day comes that he wants to heal, he wants to be able to learn from me about how to be great.

He took his WAR to 60 finally, and began endgame content with the rest of the FC, and started researching on how to be a better tank, despite his level. He also said he had no idea how passionate I am about my role. I guess I kinda didn't either.

After this, he took me into my first Haukke Manor run, and it was indicative of the synergy that is to come. I can't express how considerate and thoughtful he is. :')

I know I kind of turned on the water works and got my way, and I wish I could take back some of the things I said

Me? Here I am playing alone all the time because my husband is now playing The Division non-stop. He's the one who got me into FF XIV and now he doesn't even touch his FF XIV.
