    tanks not using cooldowns?

mostly on mobs. On hard hitting mobs I remind them and only some use them afterwards (most I've seen use them and forget). I even got yelled at for asking while trying to do Holy spam. He told me to heal better and proceeded to slow the run down by stopping and waiting awhile before each pull. Is there something i'm missing or? I've nonstop have been getting this on expert and lower level'd dungeons. I get that expert is a joke when it comes to damage, but if you aren't stance dancing then thats somewhat lazy.

they are going through whole dungeons not using them.

Tanks should be using CDs to increase their group effectiveness in dungeons it means you get to DPS more and helping make the run go smoother. You're not doing anything wrong the tanks you get should be using CDs it's really really glaring when you run with a tank that uses their CDs effectively VS one that doesn't. Good tanks rotate their CDs bad tanks don't use any.

I dislike most duty finder tanks. They're not receptive to constructive, politely worded critiques, they don't use good judgement, and their situational awareness is often poor. The solution is to become a tank yourself and never deal with their ilk again. Want to be a big man in your free company? Popular with strangers? Want to get your daily dungeons knocked out of the way at a pace of your choosing? Want to get a group for the most popular content at a speed that'll make you say "wuuuuuut?" Choose the path of the meat shield. Jooooooin us.

warrior is my secondary so it does work out when the times call for it lol. Usually using it when queue times for healers are too long (which they have been lately). But yeah DF tanks can be interesting. Pulling everything, not popping cooldowns, and yelling at healers when they die I guess is the new meta from what i've heard from some people.

Been seeing it constantly by level 60 tanks on their leveling roulette while leveling MCH and AST recently. I remind them. I track their cooldowns and eventually build sound effects for when their different CDs would be available again and would be ideal to use. I'll tell them ahead of time as we run to the next pull how much dps I intend to do, and how I could do considerably more with no loss to their current or my future dps if they actually blow their CDs. If they get annoyed and leave, the MNK or DRG tend to be able to take very nearly about the same rate of damage while we proceed for a couple minutes without a tank. Otherwise, they actually start using mitigation to shut me up.

(I've gotten to the point where I can hold conversations without being late a single GCD, probably half due simply to dealing with bad tanks.)

The worst though is when you get those Warriors who like to open in Deliverance and can barely hold threat in single-target, and say that it's worth it for their dps, when they aren't Overpowering against 5 mobs, and I could otherwise be spamming Gravity...

    Sorry.
    /vent

tldr; you're perfectly in the right.

That sounds far more hilarious than it should be lol. But yeah its one thing when tanks are open to advice and use them afterwards (I had this once and it was amazing), but getting to lvl 60 and doing it? Most of the time these tanks will also only use cooldowns only when their health gets low, then go right back to derping.

Then you get to deal with bad DPS and can't compensate much for it anymore with the recent nerfs.

The only thing worse than a tank that doesn't pop cooldowns is 2 DPS who have no clue what they're doing.

You can still compensate for many things.

The other day in EX roulette (Antitower) I ran into a WHM who felt the need to alert me in party chat before I'd even loaded into the instance, that he/she was only going to heal.

I wasn't sure if they were being lulzy or what (I half expected sardonic holy spam) - I did the first little 3-mob pull and watched as my HP sat neatly at 23K or whatever it was at the time, while Cures were slung at my very much topped-off HP pool, repeatedly, until everything was dead.

What'd I do? I dropped Grit for the entire dungeon (I do it all the time on bosses but not usually for trash pulls). I didn't change my game either, I pulled everything I could at every opportunity and only popped one cooldown at a time. I wasn't about to let that Cure spam to waste in the void of overhealing. I lost hate on a mob a couple of times but not for long enough to cause an issue. I'd never done a dungeon like that before with pugs, and probably never will again.

No one said a word for the entire rest of the dungeon, I never died (nor did anyone else), got 2 comms, and the run took ~20ish min like all my other EX runs. :]

Not going to lie, as a tank, I'm always too focused on using my combos and keeping aggro on all enemies simultaneously to notice when my CDs are ready to pop. Keeping my DPS up with Spirits Within and Circle of Scorn helps remind me, because then I always have CDs I need to use. As a rule, it's something we should do whenever possible for 3+ mob pulls...

Don't overthink it, baddies are gonna bad. As I always say, kick them. Tanks (and I main tanks) need to see that they're as eligible as anyone else for a kick in their teeth.
