If jobs had their own exp Bar, they wouldn't be Jobs. they would be additional CLASSES!... what you really want OP is more classes. As far as jobs go you have to take the point of view of a new player. New content for older players is tainted in a way. For new players it is something to look forward to. Old players that have done everything it's a five minute job, yay I've done it. Now I am bored again.

All will be better with 2.0, there will be loads of content. More classes, Jobs, more events, quests, missions. That is the time when every one new and old will be happy and active.

The way I see it, if you can unlock jobs at 30, like they said, and jobs will only have a handfull of specialty spells that variate from the class. At least, thats how I understand it. Then I see no reason to level both class and job from 30-50.

I see no reason to have to reach lv30 then level from 1-50 just to do endgame content. My Dragoon will already be using my lancer abilities anyway(or most) with probably some stat adjustments. I highly doubt my ability to be an effective Dragoon will be much different than a Lancer just because I did not re-level from 1-50. This game does not need such a grind added and goes against it being a Themepark Endgame MMO(at least with Yoshi calling it a theme park and endgame MMO in different interviews).

    Got my vote!
I prefer jobs to have their own exp bar.

Is anyone else REALLY sick of seeing all of the damn pumpkin hat icons? I know I am. Worst idea ever SE, to make your avatar reflect what seasonal gear you have on.

What if instead of "levels" for jobs why not something like FF tactics where you earn ability points while you have said job active in which you can choose how you wish to customize your job. At the same time, the guild marks used for said class could be used to obtain additional abilities for the job, rather then make it purely leveled based. Perhaps then each person's "job" could be unique where one paladin might have more curative properties while another person's paladin might be more defensive based.

Quick leveling paves an easy enough path for incompetence as it is. I'm all about being able to progress with a casual style of playing but the idea of implementing auto-level I believe is horrible. There would be less incentive to learn a job, let alone becoming a well rounded player. If you want to automatically max things out, play a single player game that accepts cheat codes.

A leveling system creates goals and a sense of community for players, bypassing that would be the worst thing you can do in a game that relies on interaction with other players. It would accelerate the worst aspects of power-leveling. I am all for a level-sync system like FFXI had, where you can sync down to the level of lower players. That is a much more constructive way to make a more inclusive gaming environment.

People are putting way to much emphasis on the terms Job and Class. Jobs as they are planned are just quests to enhance a specific party role. At the core, you're still the class the you chose with some restrictions and some buffs. That's it.

This entire concept is not new either as SE has done this before with XII to a degree. Original XII had your characters fill whatever role they wanted and you could "cross-class" as many abilities as you wanted. FFXII: International Zodiac Job Edition forced you into specific roles throughout the game and you lost the ability to "cross-class". However, your job was several times more powerful than it could be in XII. SE combined this concept in one game.

I think the best way to implement jobs is the way they're doing it, however...
I feel that these jobs quests should put you in situations that you work with NPCs and have to learn your class to finish each mission, a different skill with each mission, with the final mission being a cumulative effort. Like each quest is homework and the final quest is a test to see if you're worthy of using that job in endgame. And I mean the final quest should be HARD and something that only the best of the best of each job can do, ones that try their hardest and are prepared.

Like PLDs will have to keep hate off NPCs and tank, WHM's will have to heal multiple people, one target, WAR will have to do enough damage utilizing their skills in enough time, etcetc. I don't think you it should tell you EXACTLY how to play your class, as to leave room for theorycraft and otherwise, but I think it should cover the basics in the end.

they may share the same exp, but jobs truly levels up by quest. armor, abilities, spells, weapons skills etc is all quested i believe.

It is interesting and i'm looking forward to it.
