Yeah, stupid ideas have been running rampant 'round these parts. And no amount of me quoting Yoshi's interviews/2.0 notes will convince anyone to stop speculating and worrying about something they should not worry about.
Meh.
Or maybe it's people expressing their opinion of what the Dev's are already planning.. as the OP suggested.. You would be the one posting random thoughts without reading..

the worst idea should go to the thread where ppl suggest you can choose to lvl your char or begin with a lvl 50![]()

Why dont you just watch a vid of someone in youtube with a level 50 job.
It will be just as rewarding.

@OP:
1. Classes =/= Jobs
We know since the battle blueprint that Jobs don't be a separate things from the classes. They would be a part from the classes, a specialisation. It's more like a talent tree, a mode, a pattern for party roles.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ight=blueprintJobs
The job system - that series-defining trademark - will be implemented in FINAL FANTASY XIV (details such as specific jobs TBA). Quests to unlock each job will become available once you have reached a certain rank in the corresponding class.
Rather than being advanced versions of classes, we would like players to think of jobs as specialized playing styles optimized for partying. While playing as a particular job will render you unable to equip certain actions of other classes, you will be compensated with access to exclusive actions, which can be acquired through quests.
In practice, players will find the existing classes effective when playing solo or in certain party setups. Jobs, however, will shine in party situations where specific skill sets are demanded. Now, you didn’t hear this from me, but there are also rumors circulating that quests for obtaining job-exclusive equipment are also in the pipes.
We at the development team are currently hard at work on the job system, and expect to have details to share with you soon.
If you have all classes leveled to 50 and need something new to level, wait for the new classes.
2. Please people, kick FF XI out of your minds.

I like that Job Abilities will be Quest-Based...in fact,
I wish all Class Abilities were quest based.
I wish the various Guilds had a more prominent role in our progression.
I wish we had to prove ourselves in special battles in order to unlock Weapon Skills.
I wish that Plvls still had to go back and complete Guild-Quests in order to learn/activate Abilities and Weapon Skills. (which would be easy at r50 but still gotta be done).
As for leveling Jobs from R1...no thanks, but they are essentially R30 when you unlock them and you need to grind it to R50 while completing the Ability Quests if you do not already have the required Class at R50.
Sorry, but I'm not gonna cry any tears for people that miss all the new low-mid level content because they have multiple 50's. If you want the full FFXIV experience...Make a new character after 1.20 and right before we start paying.
That's probably going to be the best feedback the Devs can get..."Is this game fun out of the box now?"

Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.

While it sounds a bit harsh, I agree. It's also the players fault for leveling *everything* (at a time when there was nothing to do in the game) only to be ready when real content comes out. I never understood that. What's the point? I play to be entertained. I don't bore me for hours on end only to have fun after X amount of grinding. For me that's against the very essence why I play video games in the first place. If grinding itself were fun... but that's another issue.
But then again, I really think we need a level synch or lvl cap or whatever, because I also understand that someone who only leveled his favourite job is at 50 now and feels kind of punished for not having the chance to do lower level content with his favourite job (without killing everything with one hit).
And don't get me started on fighting the normal Ifrit with 3 lvl 50s (me being 30) and win within ten seconds. Again, what's the point? Now I have to gain 20 more levels for a challenging fight? What kind of a reward is this?![]()
XI had such harsh restrictions. Thanks to that I was never able to beat certain content. In XIV it's vice versa. Can't we find a middle ground, please?
Oh, and sorry for derailing a bit...![]()

If I had to guess, using Paladin as an example:
You're a level 50 Gladiator and are about to do some big NM fight. Let's say Ifrit. You equip your job stone and become a Paladin.
You lose all abilities outside the Sword (Gladiator) skill set. (You can't have anything from CNJ, PUG, MRD, etc.) You keep things like Sentinel, Rampart, Obsess, Red Lotus, etc.
You now GAIN Paladin specific abilities like Provoke III, Fealty, Iron Will, Shield Bash III, Cover II, Palisade, Holy, Light Blade, etc. etc.
You lose your ability to meld skills from other jobs, but you gain skills specific to your role, in this case, tanking.
Paladin needs moar Knights of the Round
