Beams of light in Azys La?

Posting this in the lore section because I don't know what it is and maybe it's part of what makes Azys La what it is...

The other night, I was heading to the Adamantite node out in Azys La. On my way there, I noticed a rather scary looking beam of light coming down from the sky (with a pretty loud audible cue too). The beam repeated for what I timed as 4 minutes.(1 Eorzian Hour). The Beam did repeat but at different places all in the same area. As far as I could tell, only one beam descended at a time.

...very shortly after, Proto Ultima FATE was found but in a completely different part of the map (the beams were halfway between Aetherite and Adamantite spot, the FATE was at the Habisphere). Are they connected though?

What were those beams? Anyone else witnessed this?

I've never seen anything like that, but if I was to take a guess, I would think that it would have something to do with the next Void Ark raid, similar to how we saw the Void Ark floating around Azys La before it was actually released in the next patch. Either that or it could be something to do with the Warring Triad.

They are connected. Proto Ultima flies around during those 5 minutes shooting laser beams and the weather turns to Hyperelectricity. Shortly after, the weather returns to normal and the fate Prey Online will appear in one of three set locations.

Or something else completely different, maybe a new warrior of Light?

Interesting... I kinda want to camp that place now. I don't know, the beams seemed like magitek to me. They were that bright blue/white light color scheme you know?

I'm going to lean more on Garlean or Warring Triads then Void Ark, Voidsents...

Yep, it's the cue for Proto Ultima & can make you poop in fear if you're not aware & one blasts right next to you. XD

Unfortunately I've only seen it once, during 3.0 Early Release & would love to see it again & actually take part in the fight.

Speaking of Proto Ultima, is there anything in game about it? It seems kinda sad that the prototype of the first major boss of 2.0 would be relegated to a simple FATE. Maybe it'll be like Odin where it'll actually get a quest dedicated to it in the future?

For the moment, it's more or less on my Wait and See list.

The "Weapons" are usually pretty high up on the food chain. While having one as a boss at LV50 to close out 2.00 felt pretty epic (at the time), I suspect that (in the long run) there might be a discrepancy in power between it and other Weapons such as Omega and Proto-Ultima (and Proto-Omega? And more!?). After all, it was buried and unserviced for 5,000 years (surviving 3.5 Calamities) and then refurbished by people who knew just north of nothing about the technology used to create it.

Ultima seemed to not operate very well indepedently. It followed Gaius' commands and even accepted manual control from a cockpit. Who knows what Proto has under the hood, because it is sentient. Is it controlled via Allagan AI? Or is it ... alive? It looks at least part dragon, plus the homage horns of the "Atma" Ultima Weapon, and could very well be biotech. I suspect there's further content planned for it, because there's speech assigned to it that I've never seen it use. They're actually the same lines from Final Fantasy VI.

Although, Heavensward contains a ton of shout-outs to Final Fantasy VI, and the Floating Continent had an Ultima Weapon...
It could be a trivial homage.
