Perfectly fair. I never went through the NIN guides personally (ironically... I've gone through BLM and SMN and don't even have those...) everything was based on my own experience personally as well as my own insight and reading ingame descriptions. Part of why I didn't realize SF and mut snapshot the potency dmg when it's implemented.

And I do not mind arguments based around giving information. It's when they get on a personal level that it gets annoying. I just need information, not "because I said so" statements. "Do this because of this" is much more effective for me to understand. Otherwise, I will over analyze and put every what if and but statement there is to the test.

I'd be interested to hear the results of what you come up with though. It will likely be hard though as the rest of my own rotation will of course differ from yours i'm sure. I myself will have to re-evaluate my own rotation based around yours. I also vary my own based on party composition. I love having WAR's as i don't have to focus on DE as much... unless the WAR is thinking the same thing as me... and we both fail to put it up. That's always embarrassing...

they were 1549, 1554, and 1590 respectively, over 3 and half minutes, ending after i dish out another set of TA + 90s offgcd burst
note the 1590 parse had both trick attacks crit for 4.8k which inflated the numbers
non of the initial AEs crit'd

    opener was suiton-se(kassatsu+ir)-gs(b4b)-de(jug)-se(ta)-gs(raiton)-ae(dream)-se(mug)-gs(duality)-ae
    observed burst was around 2.4k

the problem here however, is that after your DAE, there is 6 seconds left on DE and 4 seconds remaining on b4b while ir has long expired.
I chose to throw my dots up as they would still benefit from b4b thanks to snapshots, but after that i had to do a full 3 gcd without slashing debuff, which killed me a little
so even even ignoring the dps loss from dots within TA, the fact that you have to drop DE for a bit or apply dots without any buff makes this inoptimal.

following the standard rotation with my own optimizations, i land 1640+ over the same duration consistently.
i can make a video if you want, but i cant figure out how to record the parse side by side and im weary of the forum ban that may follow it, so take what you will.

Welcome to the forums, where things spin wildly out of control by the time you reach page 2 lol.

^^; sorry we kinda hijacked your topic. Eventually these things will make sense to you as they are relevant to end game content and maximizing your dmg rotation.

Xenon - Thanks for checking the numbers. Even though the numbers were infact lower, I am happy to see they are still infact high, even if not optimal. No need to video it or anything, I appreciate you checking it personally.

There's one thing I'm having slighty difficulty adjusting to as a Ninja, mainly in big 8 or 24 Player Raids. I was doing the three Raids for the Crystal Tower raid, and I would always get lost in all the hussle and bustle of what the boss was doing, and what everyone else was doing. Mainly because it feels like the camera isn't as far back as I wish it was as a Melee. I'm so used to being a Bard, staying back a ways, and being able to see a good chunk of the battlefield, and reacting as I need to. Alot harder to do as a Ninja, as my Camera shows alot less when I'm right beside the boss within Melee distance. For the first time as well, I'm feeling like my HUD is getting in the way and making it harder to see stuff. Never had this thought as a Bard, but it's always on my mind as a Ninja, when in these raids. Any suggestions?

    1. Zoom all the way out and tweak with your UI, with default keybind, you can resize them in ui config with ctrl+home
    2. Practice until you can do the rotation in your sleep, so you can pay more attention to the battle instead of keeping track of rotations/CDs
    3. The opposite happens for me, as a melee main, when I try to do smn and mch I get very lost for a while before brain clicks in. It could help to research and understand the fights/roles more so you are more comfortable and won't be caught by panic

Do you focus target? It won't help when it comes to massive mob fests of people and adds, but for the bosses, it's very helpful. Especially when you are running around for mechanics and need to see something coming. As a melee, I still zoom out all the way. As a tank, I often go near walls, so the zoom is a pain sometimes. Just gotta find the right angle. And in raids, I get rid of the alliance bar. Seeing what the other 2 alliances hp bars are really doesn't help me. The only time I think it could be useful is as a healer if one alliance loses both their healers, you'd know to act on it. But as a tank or DPS, I haven't really seen a need for it. It just bogs up my screen imo. I know many of my friends have also cleared out some or moved a lot of the HUD around as well. I personally haven't, but I can definitely see where it'd be useful. But I'm also on PS4.

Correct. Even when I activated Duality, and I couldn't get behind the mob, I've learned to just use the Duality with Dancing Edge rather than wasting lost dps on chasing a mob's rear.
