Locked Function During Introduction - Gamepad Combat Tutorial

The new tutorials during the game's introduction, for some reason, lock all functions before their introduction - however innocuous.

This is extremely annoying - shutting off the ability to open the map, take screen shots, or call the micro menu, among other things.

While I understand this could be justified as a part of the learning process - preventing new users from being swamped with new functionality - it is extremely annoying for experienced users (not to mention a little patronising for most newbies) and most of all, culminates in locking the very functions called by the tutorial:

During the very first fight in the game, the combat tutorial raises a window titled 'Targeting Enemy NPCs', containing the instruction, 'Try placing your targeting cursor on the escaped goobbue.' Besides this instruction is a picture of a gamepad, with one of the horizontal buttons on its D-Pad flashing.

Unfortunately, because the developers saw fit to lock out all functions, and presumably because this comes before the introduction of targeting modes, the up and down directional buttons (on the keyboard also) are locked. As the game defaults to 'Friendly' targeting only, this forces the player to (god forbid) think for themselves, and realise that they can (presumably for the moment) only click on the target and override the active targeting mode.

I assume this is less of an issue for the keyboard and mouse tutorial, as I was going through it having told the game I intend to use a gamepad.

Please, unlock all functions and just leave the tutorial to wait on our doing what it tells us? Or give us the ability to just skip being told how to play the game?

Just for clarity here amidst the complaint about having the interface locked down, this is the actual bug:
As the tutorial locks out the ability to change targeting mode from 'Friendly' to 'Enemy', it is impossible to follow the tutorial instruction to use the D-Pad (or arrow keys) to target the tutorial encounter enemies as the game defaults to 'Friendly' targeting mode. New players are forced to guess that the mouse can also be used to target enemies.

This seems rather in defiance of the tutorial's apparent 'make sure they don't forget how to breathe' philosophy, and were this not fixed by the Playstation 3 release (though I'm sure it would be), I presume the vast majority of PS3 players reaching this point be, well, screwed.
