I love seeing a bard in my group
Then I change my mind because he won't ever sing songs at the right time, if at all, so I'm stuck with no tp on a massive aoe pull as a melee dps because I was counting on the bard to play their job

Bards are fine and are capable of more damage then people give credit for, probably due to the shortage of good Bards out there :/
They are still great to have in a group.
Wow thanks guys, seems pretty positive all around.
I like to think i'm a pretty efficient player, i know my role and perform as expected. What i like most about the bard so far is that you seem to help in one way or another in almost any scenario.
I'm 58 now, luckily i managed to acquire the hive bow in rava ex last night, can't wait to hit 60 and equip it.
I also have all the eso armor ready to go and will soon have enough crystals for the i200 bow.

Sorry to be the wet blanket of this thread, but the reason there's a shortage of good bards out there is because most of the ones I know either changed jobs or quit altogether because they didn't like the bard changes in 3.x. Not being snarky. The playstyle changes and going from good DPS down to tying with MCH for dead last was a tough pill to swallow.
You may find this to your advantage, OP, as you may fill a spot some people are no longer willing to play.

I was never drawn to support classes but I certainly found appeal in Bard for the same reason, especially when Heavensward rolled around and we got a new skill.
Bit of an update for those who're interested
I'm now lvl 60 with BRD, i207 (and counting) and absolutely love the class.
It's by far the most enjoyable role for me and i can see myself maining it for a little while to come.

Grats and very glad to hear you enjoying it![]()
Invigorate do you use it? Maybe I'm misunderstanding but why would you be using melee aoes? They're nothing but tp drains you should just be single targeting. Paeon is more geared toward tanks who can't get tp back quick, then it's usually used as a last resort if many people have to be revived. Ballad and Foe are the only two songs that truthfully have any real impact on the entire party.

I frequently will use it if it's me + a melee and the tank's pulled like fifty mobs. They just melt away.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME

I actually think the community is more excepting of Bards, at least in my view.
Sure there is still a large population of bad Bards but i have noticed far more better ones now.
Machinists on the other hand i rarely see around so perhaps they are not wanted?
