newbie pvp questions

Hello all,

Been running the Feast past couple of days as my intro into pvp and i greatly enjoy it.

But i noticed in the duty finder, the pvp matches all sync you to ilvl 150. So what is the point of ilvl 180 and 205 pvp gear if they all sync to 150 anyway? Maybe i'm missing something, but wouldn't my PvE gear of 220 and 230 be just as good to wear since it all gets synced anyway? The secondary stats of my pve gear as a healer are much better then the pvp gear available from the vendors.

Also it says "During PvP, materia bonuses are also ignored" So is there a point in buying the pvp materia and slotting it into the pvp gear?

Yeah, you kinda answered your own question. Other than min-maxing stats you want, there's no point in the PvP gear you get, nor the PvP-centric materia or other materia in that regard.

Also, food bonuses don't count, either.

Morale don't matter either in The Feast, so don't worry about.

Your gear is good, an easy 101: get a vitality accessory with ACC, the 190 fending ring or the 180 pvp choker are great examples, and aim to hit 410 acc, then gear your slots so every piece has a higher value of crit/speed than determination and you're golden.

And stay away from pvp materia. Waste of your wolf marks.

Level sync works kind of weird. Basically, stats have a cap of whatever the stat caps are at i150. But the stats aren't adjusted down unless if they're over the cap. The higher you can get those stats (until you reach the cap), the better. Because of this, higher ilvl gear will generally be better. Also, the stats on the pvp gear are generally quite good, at least I can say this is the case for healers. You don't really need PIE, which PvE gear tends to have a lot of.

No point in pvp materia. It's a relic of the past.

Thank you everyone for the quick responses. Guess i'll just be using my PvE gear. Kind of a disappointment that the pvp gear is basically just for glamour (though most of it looks quite good) And thanks for confirming that the pvp materia is just a waste of marks.

To some, yes, pvp gear is just for glamour, but some of the 180/205 pieces are bis for pvp depending on the slot/class/secondary stats and that's how you should spend your wolf marks
