Fresh transfer here, how do I Balmung?

I've heard tales of Balmung being the RP server, and I didn't think much of it until my friends forced/coerced/begged/convinced me to move here with them. We're all a friendly little bunch (some more than others), but roleplay is not exactly my strong suit. Don't get me wrong, I find roleplay amusing and all, but I'm not quick on the draw and I only have a casual interest in it.

With that said, how does a 90% non-RPer get around Balmung for any number of in-game activities without unintentionally being rude? Any particular places I don't need to linger or go AFK in? Anything else I should know?

For the 10% of me that feels up to it... well, how DO I RP?

The BF and I want to transfer from Excal and I'm scouring the forums trying to get a sense of the different servers and make a decision on where we should go. We do not RP at all however, in my past experience being on RP servers on other games it typically is a very friendly community. We are just looking for other friendly people that are more casual but still progressing through the current content.

Everyone here is very nice. I transferred from balmung to excal back to balmung because its so great. I for one enjoy RP but my BF doesnt but everyone is very friendly either way! PF is also always very full as well as fates.

Quicksand is the main RP spot but they don't bother non rpers. People just like to bully them for it which is immature. there are other rp areas also which i honestly dont remember so dont be freaked out if u see it lol
