FFXIV also bans RMTs in mass. 52,816 accounts have been permanently banned so far this year, but these are different than blanket, indiscriminate bannings. They did it on Final Fantasy XI online all the time. They were banning 15-20,000 accounts per week. They got it to the point where RMT was almost completely eliminated. This was back when that game was in there prime not the current state. So what were they doing differently in that game then in this one.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
For each one they ban 10 more will pop up. Making these bots is easy and they can run a bot program constantly making new characters and running them through the game. They also can't just ban people based on a name or a report the need to prove they are doing something that is bannable. Another reason to take their time is to try to learn about the methods they are using though the people who create bot programs and hacks will always be able to find new ways to do things as bugs are patched.Oh also they had the new adventurer tag at level 50.
I've heard they farm wanderer's palace 24/7 with teleport and speed walk hacks.
I'd rather the admins be pro-active about banning and tracking down these blackmages than the rmt shoutting /telling guys that stand around in limsa by the marketboard.
