It is a bit sad GMs have this politics about this. It wasn't a personal issue, it was a FC robbing. But, well, I don't know what are the GM limits.
It is sad that people feel the need to be greedy little assholes. Curious, but what exactly do you expect GMs to do in this type of a situation? The leader locked the chest and was selling items out of it, which is completely within their right to do. It would get so incredibly ugly if GMs tried to sort out all these little squabbles and issues.

What if a FC agreed to have the leader sell off all the items in the FC so that they could use it towards <whatever item/goal>, and then they all turned on the leader and reported him saying that he sold off all the items and stole the money? Who do you believe? How much time should be wasted on something so trivial when there are bigger fish to fry?
