    Don't use game controller on PC for A Matter of Perspective quest

    If you're an archer, you'll need to do the A Matter of Perspective quest. If you're using a game controller with your PC, you may find (like I did) that each of the targets you're to destroy shows up as "Invalid target"--you can't shoot at them! Makes it impossible to complete the quest.

    It seems this is a bug with using the game controller. If you switch to the keyboard controls, you can target and shoot. You can still move around using the game controller, and of course you can switch back once you complete the quest.

    Well, it is possible for codes to suddenly stop working when it worked before. Would have to try it again to see if it is indeed a bug that just manifested in the latest patch.

    Also, submit the bug report here. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/f...2-In-Game-Bugs

    All I can tell you is that I tried logging in and out, restarting my computer, and repeated attempts, and could never get anything but "Invalid target". This is using an Xbox 360 controller under Windows 10.

    As soon as I changed to using the keyboard, I had no problem completing the quest.

    It would not surprise me to find that this is specific to Windows 10 and the Xbox 360 controller, as it's known that Microsoft's support for that controller on Windows 10 has some shortcomings.

    I just wanted to let people know; a web search finds other people reporting this problem on other (non-Square Enix) forums, none with a solution posted.

    I attempted to enter a bug for this multiple times, and each time I got the error "Text is too long". I checked, and there's nothing I've entered that exceeds the given limits. Finally I gave up, and just posted here.

    That is too bad. Yet another reason I will stick with Windows 7.

    I don't have such problem with controller, maybe it was bcoz target filter was set to Enemy?
    By my memory, hold the upper L + triangle should change the filter to All, then you would be able to target "NPC" object.

    Anyway it reminds me at 2.0, PS3 controller very often could not target on party member's pet... ^^;

    I'm a noob; I wouldn't know how to set a target filter if my life depended on it!

    I still think it's a Windows 10/Xbox 360 controller bug
