Why does THM own coblyns so easily?

Forgive my noob question, but after going archer 1-10 against the corroded coblyns outside of uldah, I'm extremely surprised to find my thm can 2 shot them at level 1. My THM is pwning my archer in damage vs coblyns. I'm wondering if something has been changed, or if thm is just op at low level, or perhaps coblyns are weak to astral damage?

they are weak to Magic.

And its not just thm vs them, its thm + conj vs nearly anything lol. I can 1shot ants in copperbell, but a melee will hit a couple times to get TP to do skill then hit more to get tp to do skill etc.

True dat, mages can level very easily thanks to their AoE and even more so now with the plethora of +mag.attack gear. Also great at doing caravan escort since a mage can AoE right away and grab all the mobs while other classes have to first build TP while the poor chocobos get wailed on.

on top of that I belive Coblyn have pretty good physical defence(they got an armored shell or exoskeleton) while having barely no magic defence, if that holds true then natuarly a physical DD would do less damage then a magical DD.

HAHA what a joke isnt it? mages do level very hard solo since the patch... a linkshell member said when he was leveling his mid-level conjurer: "Wow... im happy that i leveled my thm to max before the patch"

one reason is for example, that some elements do less or no damage on the enemy if you chose the wrong element.. only the element, which they are weaken to do at least some damage on them.
but the mage damage overall decreased very much.
