Mentor Roulette - Are you doing it?

With only 5 lore as the reward and the realization that you could end up with any dungeon or ARR extreme trial (synced). I somehow think this will be a very underutilized roulette.

I will probably and end up doing it from time to time and when I get a particularly annoying trial with 4 newbies in it. It will end in abandon after 15 minutes.

I'm waiting a while to become a mentor for a few reasons but after that I plan to run the roulette.

I would if it didn't have some rather high requirements. I hadn't yet got through all the 50 ex trials which I find slightly odd requirement since leafs are not very likely to end up in those anyway.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

From my understanding, the mentor roulette goes to help newcomers to any raid, dungeon, or trial. I might be wrong though so if I am please correct me. But if I'm right, it would make a lot more sense.

Yea someone wrote he got Mog EX (which made me scared).

I am going to do it but atm focussed on favors as the droprate of favor items in dungeons is just a SE troll.... need to catch up and what they added is a joke just now as I have the tomes spare to use on anything they remove them and "add to dungeon" - said the folklore.
Cleared everything synced and all but given example of Mog EX even in DF so if people not fully laggy or language/understanding barriers turn up most are absolutely doable.

If people see your mentor crown they're obviously going to hold you to a high standard so I think it should be a requirement to have a player do extreme trials. Think of these trials as a reminder that mentors should know exactly what they're doing and reminding them of why they took on the crown, plus the oppurtunity to demonstrate your knowledge to the new people that get in any of those requirements. I think those should have been the requirements to be a mentor instead of 300 comms + 3 jobs leveled up anyone can get it with grinding but I digress.

I look at it a different way. The Mentor crown itself and the Novice Network is for experienced players to help out new players (sprouts). The crown allows for easy identification of someone who should be open to answering questions or helping someone new. For sprouts, this is easy as they see someone running by with the crown, they should know that they can hit that player up for assistance.

DR: Mentor, is what you described above. This is something to allow even more experienced players assist all players who are conducting something for the first time. As I mentioned earlier, I find that I wind up in a lot of 2.x EX primals when I queue for an in progress DR: Mentor. I don't mind this too much as the majority of the groups that are stuck there when I join, are open to criticism and suggestions. If they flat out do not know the fight, they are open to explanations of the strategies and for the most part are able to carry them out. I would say that I have roughly a 75% completion rate for getting these groups through the old EX primals. The only one that is somewhat of a problem is Titan EX. This is mainly due to people not being able to avoid landslides. If the group sticks around long enough for a 20% echo, I find that as long as we have 2 dps, 1 tank, 1 healer who know the fight and can stay alive, we can usually 4 man Titan EX from heart phase onward.

But what about the people who get the Ex Primals who've maybe only completed it one and haven't done it in god knows how long. If I get any Ex Primals but Levi, I'll be screwed if I've qued as a tank, and I'll most likely be doing the roulette as a tank since I'm more interested in the gil than the tomes. In my opinion they should be removed as Ex Primals arent really a novice/mentor thing but a Stone, Sky, Sea thing.

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

I've been doing it. So far I've gotten 1 guildhest and 2 leveling dungeons with no new players.

I think the fact it could be almost any instance is part of the fun.
Admittedly I'm not sure I could teach someone how to say, properly tank Ramuh Extreme, but I'm willing to try. It's definitely only something to sign up for when you have lots of time and are in the mood to help others.
