Swimming would be kinda neat, but I'm afraid they'll do what many games try to do and make it meaningful via underwater combat and similar. In most games, these sequences tend to be the most hated ones, because it's slow, sluggish, confusing and iffy to navigate. Breath bars just add insult to injury.

Climbing...well...if it's that slow "press against the wall and press up" kind of climb, it's not exactly enjoyable. You'd probably be better off doing jumping puzzles and the like to climb up a mountain or similar. We have the technology for that in the game even and many people who are more than eager to spam the space button.

Seamless worlds are typically not actually seamless. The transition between one tileset and the other tends to be rather abrupt or disguised via tunnels, rivers, bridges and the like. Or, they simply don't look different. Consider me indifferent here.

I have flashbacks to the swimming zone of Wow. It was probably one of the worst zones to try and get anything done in. My experience with many mmos is that swimming is not fun since the act of swimming can be slow, overly time consuming, and overall confusing. I have faith in SE and this game that swimming will not be tedious and will avoid oxygen bars. I wouldnt mind diving to a sea floor, landing there and fighting creatures who are fixed to the ocean bottom. As for seamless zones I do not think that it will be a feature for this game anytime soon due to consoles. I have a ps4 and the loading in takes a little bit of time, imagine having a seamless expansion area having to load in to. I'm on pc now fortunately.

I have been to that area in WoW twice... because I was leveling and I never went back. I can't believe anyone likes swimming... the last game I played where swimming was actually fun was Ecco.

o/ me me me! I really want to swim and snorkle! But underwater quests and zones I am really skeptical about.... In WoW they were time consuming, boring, and an absolute pain. It would also be lovely not to have to go through loading screens all the time, at least not in main cities. Would be lovely if we just had Gridania, without having to enter another 'zone'. But yeah, I think people would like such features. Claiming though... How would that work?

I said that and People get upsetted. Oh well. This may work in other MMORPG's where Visuals ain't that Good but we're talking about FFXIV here and Zones like Idyllshire or just the Zone itself like Azys Lla / Western Coerthas are already demanding, even for a i7 4790K CPU it is.

INB4 someone complains, just think about it. You see a Character with it's Texture, it gets loaded, another Character appears with the same Textures, does it mean it's not requiring Rendering anymore? It does, it's taking a hit on the Perfomance. If you have all Zones seamless you either need multiple Textures (Low-Res, Mid-Res) for far Distances. (Mipmapping it is called) otherwise even the PS4 Version is going to struggle to Render over ... we are talking over ... Millions of Polygons at the same time.

Imagine riding on water mounts, along with swimming.

I would love swimming zones. Vashj'ir in WoW had beautiful coral landscapes, weird sea creatures and many quests where you had to use 3-dimensional thinking. Sometimes a quest giver was in a cave with an obscured entrance. Other quests involved fighting mobs or gathering items on multiple levels. It didn't feel clumsy because you had increased swim speed and underwater breathing. Good camera controls are a must but that's the responsibility of the player to set up.

Climbing and jumping puzzles are meh. Most jumping puzzles only test how accurately you can move your character without requiring any problem solving skills or maze coordination. That kind of pass/start again tests are boring and frustrating. Actual 3-dimensional jumping/climbing mazes with dead ends would be fun I think. Or zone wide gliding travel where you need to go to a high point and glide to an otherwise unaccessible area.

I'm not very interested in a seamless world tbh. Even a seamless world will be designed as separate regions and would only look awkward when flying across. Loading screens aren't that bad. I'd rather see the devs use the time to figure out how to fit more people in a server/area without crashing it and how to make housing and items take less space.

    1. build out the HDD
    2. build in a SSD (or a hybrid)
    3. profit

Don't be a slave of harddisk limitations.
And the standard HDD in the PS4 is also not the fastest one

Seamless zones to me just means there will be a lot of padding. Seamless towns and them being bigger to accommodate that I'm all for, same for housing plots.

I'd love having those inserted into the game, as well as the removal of the invisible walls (despite that I do know why of their presence). I love explorations in MMORPGs, but this is the only game where I couldn't stand it due to the nuisance of walls over everything.

When the day comes, I'll definitely enjoy re-exploring the old areas once again.
