Also, you can't transfer onto locked worlds, I tried.

We have had an influx of people in my FC who are transferring their characters and alts onto Balmung (which is just about always closed). Now, I don't know if this works 100% of the time, but it seems to be a very high likelihood that you will have no issue.

Try around 3 or 4 AM (Central Time, NA). That almost always works for me.

Or, skip a couple of meals and pay the $18. That *always* works.

Not sure what to tell you, but this is simply not true. They may claim it, probably more to protect themselves against backlash from the small group that can't get in, but buying a transfer is a good way to get into a locked server.

As others have suggested you need to find when the off peak hours are for that server and try really early for that server. I was able to make a character on Gilgamesh one of the populated servers but I had to wake up at 5am to see if it was available. You can also do the extreme camping method and keep checking every hour in the game.

Actually, there is a restriction to character transfers to a locked server. However, the limit for character transfer to a locked server is higher than the limit for character creation on a locked server. They are not the same.

The limit to character transfers is much higher though. It rarely gets reached, except after major patches for overly crowded servers. It happened to several servers after Heavensward too. Most of the servers were locked to character creation. However, out of all those servers locked for character creation, most were open to character transfers while a few were locked to character transfers.

I've done it 3 times so far. Burned a lot of good sushi money. Create a character on Faerie or Mateus, transfer to Gilgamesh, no problems. During "Lock" periods.

They need to introduce a refer a friend priority over new randoms being created to the world in my opinion. Having friends come to try play with you and being unable to, then being told they need to spend $20 extra to do so is ridiculous.

The weighting scale may be the same as opportunities to go into the world is on an equal playing field but should veteran players get a priority on allowing their friends to get in?

I would like to know why they count characters made by someone already on the server. I find it odd that I can't make an extra character on my server since I can only be on one of them at a time... I think a big part of the character restrictions are because of RMT.

As for getting your wife on your server just wait until early morning/off hours of the server and you should be able to get one before long.

Personally, if it were me; I'd just fork over the $18 to play with my boyfriend. It would just come out of fun money pile that I save into.

Depending on how you play with him he should be the one paying.

Make a character on the same data center then Pay to Move. Pay to move you can still pick a closed server.

At least that was the case a while ago.
