Try around 3 or 4 AM (Central Time, NA). That almost always works for me.

Not sure what to tell you, but this is simply not true. They may claim it, probably more to protect themselves against backlash from the small group that can't get in, but buying a transfer is a good way to get into a locked server.

I've done it 3 times so far. Burned a lot of good sushi money. Create a character on Faerie or Mateus, transfer to Gilgamesh, no problems. During "Lock" periods.

I guess your best bet is to find out the "off-peak" timing for your server and just do a quick 10minute login to create it.

I did likewise when I started off at Tonberry. Had to just do a crazy early wake up just for 1 day around 6am at my time just to create it. But it's worth the trouble since that's the only time you'll ever need to be on at those timings (unless you work shift hours at your job or something)

I admit, may be a pain but I agree. Slap that alarm for 4am or whenever it should be over, take the few mins to login and make a new characters and done....plus if your like me that feeling of going back to bed feels sooooo good. xD

It should be easy as long as you wake up early after maintenance. Unless it's Balmung in which case...I have tried to get on even after maint, but if you wait more then 3 minutes it will be closed again. :/

I've made new characters on Balmung, amusingly.

However, as you said, the window of time is EXTREMELY short before you get locked out.

Yea somehow I woke up late it was about 10 minutes after maint ended....and nope. I'm gonna try again for hahas this morning :P
