FFXIV moved away from auto-attack while WOW went without... how odd.

Essentially all posts about WoW's combat can be summed up in 2 ways:

If they use auto attack:
It's out-dated.

If it relies on rotations:
It's button mashing and too fast paced to think.

WoW haters gonna hate. I hate that meme, but XI/XIV's playerbase is the only community I feel 100% justified in using it towards.

No matter what WoW does, XI/XIV's players will *** on it. They are too proud to admit WoW has introduced many positive things to the genre. Instead, they'd rather act like a rabid and blind fanboy who thinks anything but their own game is crap. It reminds me of those posers who think 100% of all mainstream music is crap and you're only a unique snowflake if you listen to bands with 1000 or less fans.

In every MMO, there are people who complain about WoW and want to be as far away from it as possible. XI and XIV have always taken it to the extreme with the majority of posters acting as if Blizzard molested them with WoW. It's unfounded and ridiculous. People need to grow the hell up, honestly.

There's a lot of this too. FFXI and FFXIV players have always been the most hostile against WOW, don't know where it comes from.

goes both ways though.. wow players do the exact same thing. There are WoW players hoping so badly that this game dies. Not because they've played it or even will play it, but because of some stupid rivalry.

I also disagree with the notion that this game could never see 25% of WoW's subs. The fact that the reboot (although unprecedented) is causing quite a stir, and piquing interests all across the mmorpg world is a key indicator that people ARE still checking for this game. Before the announcement after every update you had people still checking for this game. That speaks in volumes in what kind of potential this game holds (if remade right).

honestly though..all of this reminds me of the reviews for FFVIII. When all these people new to the series via FFVII came aboard and could not understand that ff numbered series were not sequels. One person said witch in space, and that's all you heard as the argument against ffviii. Storyline was stupid, draw system was stupid and there was a witch in space. You could tell they never played it. lol
