BLM Materia Melds

Hello all. So, I have the lore boots for my BLM, and I'm trying to verify the optimal melds for it. I so far have a Grade V spell speed materia on it. Now, based on ariyala's default stat weights, it looks like going for a Grade IV spell speed and getting +7 is better than going for a full +12 DET.

Anyone have any thoughts?

That's a tough one.
The Lore gear is certainly lacking in the SS department.
Just remember with SS you need to move in chunks of 26/27 after the base amount to get any benefit at all.

Do you have the legs already? They were the biggest upgrade.

Can crit be added to them? Myself i also have 1 Quicktongue V Melded to them but have not looked further. Currently trying to get mats to meld my crafted gear

1. Accuracy (if for some reason the butt tons of accuracy didn't 'cap' you.
2. Spellspeed. All of it. It it ain't red, it belongs on your head.
3. Crit or Det. Far as I know you're supposed to keep them balanced, but I'd lean more towards crit personally.

Corollary: Vitality in accessories can add a buffer when you're still learning fights.

No, the Lore boots are maxed crit. Det or Quick Tongue IV are the only options.

Pretty sure Ariyalas stat weights for BLM are seriously wrong. SS is not .4

The weights for BLMs are not up to date on Ariyala's. I think those are the old 2.x ones.
Here's a discussion of current stat weights for BLms and a pretty picture that simplifies them

tl;dr SS is king unless you can get over 1,700 in crit. (And ss helps if you have a laggy internet connection like i do.)

As far as I know, every point of SS gives you the benefit, but the game just truncates the tooltip to two decimals. Has that changed?

I don't believe Ariyala's weights are "out-of-date" necessarily, because they have changed since 3.2 came out. But, it sounds like the unanimous opinion is that the 7 SS would be better than the 12 DET? Probably a bit cheaper too.
