Sounds like a good idea. But in the meantime, and this may sound like a broken record, find a good linkshell and make some friends who you can trust.

Yeah I feel lucky that my LS is full of crafters and we make gear and share and trade raw materials, etc. Some guys came and be my bro's customers, making him tinker expensive gear with expensive materia. I was thinking, wow they've got guts.

But entrusting your items to a crafter might not be too hard to decide if you've been around for so long and have seen them around for so long, and, most of all, never heard any bad reputation about the crafter.

I've heard of a drama on my server recently though, about crafter who crafted for a customer and got lucky and HQ an item, he then kept the HQ one and gave the customer his own NQ item instead. Which is so fudged up IMO.

I agree to this as well. My only other qualm with melding materia is the level necessary to meld the materia to a piece.
Why do I have to be a level 25 <insert craft here> to meld a materia onto a piece of gear thats level 25. I understand it but I think thereshould be a little leeway. Like If your a level 20 weaver you could meld materia onto items levels 20-25, so on and so forth...
Great suggestion though.
