Lore question, RE: Sharlayan

When exactly did Sharlayan fall? I'm trying to keep the timeline of events in the game straight in my head, and I'm having a bit of trouble - especially with no way re-watch cutscenes, it's viciously hard to be the crazy lore repository I was in FFXI.

Also, when exactly do we think the events of the opening movie happened? I'm almost -certain- this is actually stated IC somewhere (and I think it's 'something like 10 or 15 years ago') but I can't actually remember when to save my life.

I'm rather curious about Sharlayan, because the "Circle of Knowing" in the GC arc is ostensibly from there. I'd ask more pointed questions, but my highest level class is 30, so there's a /lot/ of the Path of the Twelve arc that I haven't done yet, and I'm sort of trying to avoid spoilers or outright speculation at this point until I've got a bit more solid information.

Sharlayan didn't fall. Ala Mhigo did.

According to an NPC in Mhor'Dona The Empire either is currently, or has already taken Sharlayan.

I'm aware that Ala Mhigo fell to the Garlean Empire at some point in recent history - however, I also could have sworn that it was implied that Sharlayan had gotten wrecked at some point -also-. I'm having trouble backtracing my assumptions here, so maybe I'm just going crazy?

Either that is an error or it is not explained at all in the rest of the lore in game or the story currently. It may be someone accidentally put Sharlayan in place of Ala Mhigo for the character text by mistake.

The events of Mor Dhona, which I have dubbed the Tragedy of Silvertear Falls, takes place 15 years prior to current events.

The events of Ala Mhigo are in the same time frame.

Sharlayan and Dravania are likely under siege by the Empire. Considering that Mor Dhona was where a massive dragon-garlean battle took place, I would imagine that the Empire is dead-set on exacting revenge against the Dragons.

Are we sure it's the Empire that's moving on Sharlayan and not the dragons? I vaguely remember an NPC something about it; I'll dig around and get back to you.
