    Paladin's Sword and Shield

    Hello Everyone...

    Can Someone gimme a good reason why do sword and shield always have different status? like.. all the other weapons have the 2 status... and if you get the sword and shield from any way in the game (relic, tomestone, end game raid) we need to mix the sword from 1 of the 3 options and the shield from the other... why we can't have the same kind of status on both of them????

    I think there are 3 kinds of shields

    1) High block rate, low damage reduction
    2) Medium block rate, medium damage reduction
    3) Low block rate, High damage reduction

    I know... I'm not talking about block str and rate, I'm talking about secondary status, like... the Lore Sword Has SS and Crit and the Shield gives Det and Parry.
    Since we don't have Accuracy on the weapon anymore, all the sword and shields from the same gear set has been this way: they split the primary and secondary status between sword and shield but if you sum the shield status and the sword status you will have a weapon with 4 secondary status instead of 2 and then you will need a sword from 1 out the 3 avaliable options ( Tomestone, Raid or Relic) and the shield from one of the other 2 options

    i have always wondered why they choose to do this and honestly it has always annoyed me. Why does SE feel the need to have different stats on the Shield then on the Sword.
    it pisses me off more so knowing that you sometimes only get lik 25ish det (although that has increased), i wana see a even 2/3 stats on the sword with 1/3 of the SAME stats on the shield from the same sets. atleast now the Sword and Shield drop as a combo on newer primals, doing T1 for a shield then T5 for the sword or T8 shield t9 Sword was a massive pain in the ass even if it usualy ment getting a good shield to help with the harder fight to follow.

    Ultimately, we don't know. I'd imagine it had something to do with stat diversity and how stats used to interact with Block Rate and Block Strength, and also because of how many low-level shields are shared between BLM/THM/WHM/CNJ and GLD/PLD.

    However, since they removed shields from casters after level ~50, and since PLD is literally the only DoW/DoM job that has an offhand of any kind in Heavensward content, and since sword and shield now drop together in endgame content, it seems to me like the separation could be done away with, and SE could do 2H sword-and-board combo weapons (like how AST's sphere is actually worn as two pieces on the character).

    For now, it makes minmaxing a bit of a challenge, since to get the most desirable secondary stats on their weapon and offhand, PLD must farm twice as much content as any other DoW or DoM. They may also have data to suggest that the higher Block Strength and Block Rate stats outweigh the secondaries, but I don't think that could be true without them putting Defense and Magic Defense on shields.

    I hope they will look into this in future, it would only be fair for both to have same stats even if its sometimes good thing that they have diffirent stats. Seph sword/shield is good example that sometimes its good to have diffirent stats(parry/ss sword and crit/det on shield), but in the end it would be better if both had same stats so when you combine both you get same value if you were using 2h weapons. Custom relic was only time i had same stats on both so i hope next step on new relic lets us choose our stats again on it.

    I'm glad they made all the sword for this patch the same wpn delay, because all patches before 3.1 all the sword had a different Delay and it affects the Sword Oath directly. on 2.X wpns for example... Excalibur Zeta has a 2.32 delay and ironworks one has a 2.0, after 7 autoattacks from Excalibur, Ironworks do 8 autoatks, it's not that much... but considering something around 200 to 300 on a fight, he have a difference of 28 to 43 auto atks in the end, it's not dat much... but it's a difference of 1400~2150 potency from sword oath, so... if we wanted to maximize the dps we needed to look even this, and now they fixed a 2.24 delay on all wpns on 3.2.
