Yoshi-P / Dev Team please considering adding Abyssea to this game

Yoshi-P and Dev Team please consider adding Abyssea to this game like from FFXI.

In FFXIV's current state we log in run one of two dungeons for esoterics each day and after so many days/weeks we have a complete set of gear.

If Yoshi-P / Dev team were to add Abyssea to this game it would give it some much needed longevity to content/gearing up. It would make all the green items from the two expert roulette dungeons be something more than a trade in for GC seals. We would have to use that armor until we were able to get each piece of AF (or whatever you would call it) gear from Abyssea by killing monsters and spawning NM's (kind of like in Diadem) and trading in the pages we earn from killing said NM's for our gear.

Sure, it would require more work than just logging in and running expert roulette every day.

We would actually have to make parties and go and kill things, slowly earning pages from killing NM's toward each piece of gear in our set.

FFXIV =/= FFXI. Go back to FFXI and play it instead.

Don't tell people to leave a game, the devs don't want people leaving their games >.>.

I don't know the Abyssea expansion in XI anyway, why not explain it in greater detail? Images? Images always helps learning XD.

It's hard to explain why there is such a love/hate with it.

Basically, Abyssea was a series of 10 zones introduced in three content patches that we paid $10 each for, making the mini expansion $30 total. Abyssea itself was a parallel world to Vana'diel, with the same zones, but with slightly different rules. In Abyssea, your player character died trying to stop the apocalypse (the plot of the 2nd expansion, CoP) and lost - so in Abyssea, the world really has ended. The planet is overrun with what we now call Voidsent. One of the survivors, Joachim, managed to break into our timeline/universe and recruit adventurers to do their best to stop the voidsent invasion. Not quite as wibbly wobbly timey wimey as the 4th expansion, Wings of the Goddess, but the best moment in Abyssea was when Abyssea-Prishe meets your player character after Abyssea-You was dead for a few years. Very touching.

Abyssea's storyline content was pretty thin, and because it was introduced with the raised level caps, it obliterated the need for any content before it. The cheap level 78 gear was better than almost everything at level 75 that had been best in slot for half a decade. Unfortunately, they didn't introduce any real challenging content in Abyssea until the 2nd infusion of zones, when the Empyrean base gear was introduced. By the time the third patch came along, Abyssea was actually kind of fun and had some genuinely challenging battles (the aforementioned caturae and Shinryu fights) - but the damage was done, and the population of FFXI had dropped in half because people were upset about all the changes in game balance.

TLDR: - Abyssea's implementation caused too many changes at once, too fast, and "ruined" the game for a lot of people.

The OP doesn't have to leave FFXIV and never come back while playing FFXI. There are plenty of players playing both games at the same time...

I have never played FFXI but this forum hate for it is digusting. From what I have heard I believe FFXI had plenty of well-working mechanisms and I see no reason why working stuff couldn't be added here.

And actually to half of the requests being made on this forums we could reply "Go back to WoW." So why isn't that happening? Hm?
Cut it off already, lots of good stuff have been introduced in lots of games. FFXIV can take from them too. I am not talking about copying, but about taking inspiration.

The level cap raise in XI was the straw that broke the camels back and forced alot of people that were considering leaving to finally do so.

I am completely and utterly against adding content like abbyssea here. It would be a nightmare and would complete invalidate the raiding scene. It would be a mindless leveling and gear spree that would no longer require any kind of mechanics.

I agree. This kind of content killed it for a lot of my LS.

I predicted they would eventually raise that cap, told people not to get too comfortable with the level 75 cap and I was proven right.
I think they did it wrong though, they should have adopted a system that kept all the original areas at lvl 75 or below
abyssea should have been a lvl 71+ area from the getgo. it was a mistake even Tanaka appologized for allowing lvl 30 players in there but did nothing to correct it because he feared too many people would leave.

I couldn't do the whole leech level thing. I have too much pride in my accomplishments to do it.

I still have trouble letting go of FFXI but really I would rather they bring different elements from FFXI to FFXIV.
I would love to see them bring in a version of Besieged in an area of say Ishgard that could be instanced like it is in FFXI but stay in the open world. yes that's right Besieged closed off Alzahbi into an instance so you could enter if it was not full but not if it was.

    THANK YOU.

God forbid someone posts about taking content from the last MMO created by Square Enix in the Final Fantasy series and re-working it to fit FFXIV's structure, due to the fact that 99.9% of the time the flame trolls appear out of the woodwork bearing pitchforks. Many players find this game to currently be incredibly boring so perhaps taking some ideas from the various battle systems and instances in XI wouldn't be such a bad thing. Mention something from WoW and the reactions are noticeably far less incendiary.

Also, someone please enlighten me as to how "Diadem is just like Abyssea", since that seems to be the sexy new buzzphrase on the forums.

In Abyssea, you can level from 30-99 through Fell Cleave parties and similar methods. You can't enter Diadem unless you're level 60 and you don't gain experience (since the cap is currently 60).

In Abyssea, nm's, for the most part, are popped via a key item or a tradeable item in your inventory. In Diadem, they are popped from Fresh Tracks that appear after a random number of mobs are killed.

In Abyssea, the chances of rare drops from nm's are greatly increased after the nm is proc'd from various methods. In Diadem, a gold chest will appear once the nm is killed in hard mode, or randomly a silver chest will appear in the easier modes. No procs needed, just take the nm's hp to zero.

In Abyssea, after completing specific conditions, you can obtain up to three atmas which give your character a number of extremely powerful buffs while in the zone. In Diadem, there is currently no such system.

Basically, the only theme that might be shared between the two is the relatively easy way that so-called gamebreaking gear is obtained in comparison to former content in both games; however, the methods for obtaining this gear (as noted above) between the two games varies greatly.
