I enjoy healing as an AST over SCH atm. The ability to buff and heal appeals to me.
Ugggh, qwq I still feel bad because I was SUPER into Scholar before Astrologian came out. Astrologians are just so pretty and so much fun. The globe is so cool and I love that cards are a part of it and then they threw stars on top of it and it's a buffer healer qwq. The more unique a class is the more I absolutely love it, and it's just so much better when it's a healer because healers are the most fun to play.
It is called using shields along with the physicks and lustrates when necessary.
Physick isnt their only form of healing
I remember when I first started and I really liked how the bard felt. Doing all the damage without having to get my face punched in. Well...my face got punched in doing solo content so I decided to move right over to Conjuring/WHM. Best decision of my FFXIV life. After awhile, its boring aspect to healing took a toll and as of now, I'm trying to adapt my play style to that of the SCH. I find moving healing classes to be really challenging...like what, I have to manage stacks just to basically have a cure II? Well...SCH is for mitigation and preventative measures not WHM who can heal up in jiffy so like I said, I'm trying my best to be a good SCH. I just have to learn how to manage those Aetherflow stacks especially when doing long pulls n' stuff.

WHM was my first, and I have since moved to SCH.
This is entirely a gameplay reason - as I think WHM looks the best and AST looks second best. I personally think that using a book as your weapon is really lame, and that the fairies are also pretty lame. The animations on things like Holy and Aero III are awesome, where as the animations on SCH abilities suck imo. Ultimately, lore, animations and glamours make SCH my least favourite, but evenso, SCH is my main because the gameplay is just the best.
They already responded, but yes Physick is not your go to spell for healing. In the new expert dungeons, I rarely if ever use it. I have easily a 10:1 ratio of Adlo to Physick usage.
Leveled as BRD/SMN to 50 and fatehealed as SCH if no other healer around. On 50 Fc mates needed a healer for AK speedruns (and I mean really speedruns cause I got heartattacks as newly 50)... since that I played SCH over SMN...
WHM I had leveled to 50 in 2.0 and not touched since in 2.3 my static raided without me cause had a meeting. Came home was ninja invited to a T8 clear for a new member... SCH spot was taken so offered to go WHM (i80 relic lol) and we cleared. Had also a static on my alt and offered for one raid then to swap WHM/SCH to offer the WHM to relax... they decided to swap roles for good after 1 hour (wasn't actually asked but was a nice change) D:
AST I leveled as 3rd after HW release I quite enjoy it.
I still main SCH still and offer WHM/AST as needed for raids or just derp around on them ^^
Ur MP must suffer Adlo Spam never proven a good solution to me. If I heal I use Physick/Lustrate > Adlo else I would OOM pretty fast. Adlo is meant for shielding only... in dungeon no shielding needed so I may Adlo only if I feel generous.
(I admit I barely heal at all in dungeons cause too lazy and DPS uptime... so maybe thats y no Adlo)

MP is never a problem. It's fairly similar on MP efficiency to Physick. On paper it seems Physick is better at 442 MP /400 Potency and 1041 MP /600 Potency, but with Adlo crits it evens out pretty well. If I am using Physick I do Adlo -> Physick. In a dungeon, you can adlo/stoneskin between pulls. In the expert dungeons that is all you need to do. Otherwise after that you can adlo/physick alternate.
In my opinion, if you do not use Adlo in a dungeon, then you are severely handicapping your potential.

And idm if your opinion differs I rarely use any healspells (on any of the 3) so I guess "healstyle" (if you wanna call my DPS healstyle) differs. I ran the current EX dungeons like 5 times overall together and usually cap on Sepp farm/Feast/weekly NMs/weekly VA/maps so can't give much current reference.

These are not comparable in terms of MP efficiency with Phsyick at 0.90 Potency/MP vs Adlo at 0.57. Phsyick is about 58% more efficient and that's kind of huge. Which is not to say that the rest of your points aren't valid, at least in most casual content you're not generally MP-bounded and certainly not in 4-mans. Therefore the premium is on throughput if only to afford additional time contribute to damage (however you feel about such things).MP is never a problem. It's also worth noting that Aldo's throughput superiority only holds in the case the target is going to take the full shield's worth of damage in the next 30 seconds. A 7000 HP barrier is worth only worth as much damage as is put into it. If little or none is, it's got a null value. If you're dealing with an encounter with periodic damage on non-tank targets that's sure to be lethal if left unattended long term,. but that damage is spaced more than 30s apart Phsyick will be more efficient on throughput as will since the shield would just falls off to no effect.If we assume such spaced damage even succor has lower throughput that rotating Phsyick if less than 4 people are in need of the healing. Again if we're putting damage into the shields then this changes quickly and drastically.
Granted these are corner cases in current content but I think it's better to maintain a more comprehensive understanding of tools should these difference become more relevant in later content with a different design.
