Materials are way too expensive for a computer algorithm to decide whether I succeed or throw my laptop out the window (ok, I'm just kidding about that. MacBooks aren't exactly cheap).
It's possible to completely avoid RNG(100% hq no matter what) with endgame gear & using e.g. all hq mats (even for the i190 gear). The downside to this is having to use hq mats which can be annoying to gather/craft & will generally cost more gil & take more time to do so, but I suppose that's the trade off if you want that reassurance.

I guess the above doesn't really help much though, if you're afraid of nq'ing a final craft every once in a while then I'd assume:

    - you don't have the gear requirements to always 100% hq using no RNG skills (for a lot of people the gear is expensive)
    - nq'ing a final craft will impact you a lot compared to others e.g. those with a lot of gil could probably shrug it off where as you stated you'd want to throw your "laptop out the window".

I just wanted to mention that you could craft without having to rely on RNG.

Also like to mention there are reasons to craft beyond 1* even if you nq every time e.g. On ragnorak(so will vary server to server), nq camphor sells for about 5-15k more than what the mats(including clusters) are worth. Doesn't sound like much but say if it somehow took you 1 hour to craft 100 & profit per craft is 5k. It's still easy profit let's say (100*5k)-5% tax = 475k profit.
