Why the baked onion soups? Is there any advantage for this rather than doing beet soup(?) to meet control cap?

I'm assuming it has something to do with having enough craft to not require another CS2 use, but you guys are the pros.

Good question it is primarily because CP is king (more CP = more actions which outweigh any other stat gains) likewise extra craftsmanship which puts you over craftsmanship breakpoints again = saved actions. So for most crafters HQ Baked Onion soup is the ideal and cost efficient choice of food. Note that Seafood stew is better when you are past your craftsmanship breakpoint... but its so expensive its not worth the effort IMO. The control gain isn't enough to justify the cost given that current crafts are only moderately difficult (when you are properly prepared).

Alright. Because I\\'m hoping to start 3* soon (I can currently hit min stats with the +craft +control food, and with a bit of luck and HQ mats I made an HQ bracelet), but my airships are being kinda crappy and not bringing back control materia.

I\\'m sitting at something around 20 short for craftsmanship, but with a t4 in my hat, MH, OH, and whenever the 170 earrings stop being 5 mil will put me over, while a lot more melds would be needed to hit min control (still using a lot of penta melded white pieces), so I was wondering, because seafood works out better for me currently.

You can use Seafood if you have enough Craftsmanship, of which you probably will just make sure you do!

I adjusted your rotation for myself to what I like doing and it's pretty good I feel.

    Makers Mark>Whistle>Comfort Zone>Steady Hand>PbP>PbP>Makers mark spam til empty>Comfort Zone>Steady Hand II>hasty touch til 10/70>masters mend II>hasty touch spam til 10/70>Nymeia's wheel>great strides>Innovation>byregots>careful synth II

Small note: If inner quiet and Whistle line up on the same number, I'll use trained hand in the middle and that'll put it one hit from finishing. If it doesn't, I'll use two careful synths instead. It's not a macro due to this, though, cause I'm against macroing things. But you could make a macro out of it pretty easily if you wanted.

Sounds about right Foxy. I've been meaning to give a go at a three star whistle (for poops and giggles) just to throw a rotation out there. With as long as three star is you are pretty much guaranteed to get full whistle use up to Nymeria's wheel usage. In which case Whistling is efficient. But will be INSANELY LONG. None the less if four star crafting is difficult it would be good to note said rotation now as more folks may start whistling then.

Personally I'm transitioning to using a Muscle Memory macro for almost everything and only hand using the rotation in this thread sometimes (because I'm outgearing the need for normal rotations to some degree).

    Yeah.

My only beef with whistle is there have been times where I've not gotten a single good proc, but it's very rare due to how long maker's mark stretches things out, and you only need 2 to make whistle worth it since 8 stacks=20 durability.

Will have to see how 4 stars go.

Actually I have another question about your low CP macro. Why do you use steady hand 2 in the middle of the waste not 2 rather than prior and starting with the hasty's and finishing with the CS2s when steady hand falls off?

Waste not two is 8 steps, so you are going to end up casting SHII inside of Waste Not one way or the other. I prefer the CS2 up front though so you are making sure to get your progress correctly one step away from completion (incase you fell short and need one extra CS2 OR if you went long and only need one CS2). That leaves the rest of your rotation to adjust without worry of progress.
