Yes, it took me the entire market board of crafting materia and then some more to get the last materia slot in my artisans gear melded when it came out. Single handly inflated the price of that materia by a good 5x for quite a while.

It's even worse when you actually spend days and sometimes weeks spiritbonding at Urth's Gift, only to watch as dozens of crafting materia break in less than ten minutes. It's soul-crushing.

I just got back into crafting recently and was trying to decide whether to get red scrip tools and gear or craft them myself...until I saw that crafting IV materia was 100,000 gil a piece on my server. Red scrips it is!

On the opposite end, I once pentamelded kirimu gloves of casting and and succeeded on the first attempt for all five melds, even the last one that was 9%. I was in shock. I had a whole pile of materia ready and everything, but I was happy to put it back in storage.

a lot of times the first overmelded slot takes me like 10+ tries with IV materias and then the next one will succeed on the first try.

I see you guys are not performing the daily ritual of slaying killing a chicken with the ceremonial dagger and letting the blood drip upon your system at the time of 1:11am as you meld.

On the serious note, I usually stop melding or trying after the 3rd, figure its good enough then. Did lose the Bird mount with a 93, I rarely ever roll that high.
