Recruit NPCs

Hello, I have a curious question and idea.

A month prior the release of Heavensward the developer talk covered something akin to having NPCs joining you as part of the new undersized campaign for dungeons.

I believe you received these NPCs once you gain a higher rank (something that has yet to be released) on allied Grand Company and they'll accompany you through dungeons and raids, similar to how an NPC Company Chocobo aids you in the Overworld.

Is this still being taken into account? I would love to run raids like World of Darkness that takes sometimes hours for me to queue and re-experience old dungeons (in fact, I believe it'll be more interesting to have retainers join you and level them by using ventures to accompany you in dungeons).

I prefer solo stuff, not to mention how hard getting a decent party is... or getting a party at all

Imagine doing FATEs, gathering, exploring, whatever, with your retainers... sigh.....

I remember too about the dev team mentioning about the NPC thing awhile back; they haven't brought it up since then. Let's hope they didn't forget about it because I would like to see on how it works

I doubt they've forgotten about it, since it's been mentioned in a live letter, less than two months.

Q: In a previous Letter LIVE, you mentioned a new feature that would let us make our own platoons. Can you please tell us how it's coming along?
A: There were some setbacks in the planning stage, but we're expecting to have this ready for Patch 3.4 as of the current schedule. However, I cannot make any promises as to whether they will be able to enter dungeons alongside you at the time they are added to the game. We're also planning to unlock the first lieutenant rank for Grand Companies at the same time. These ranks will not be ready for Patch 3.3, although there will be new Grand Company equipment.

Do you think our retainers will join us in trials, dungeons, etc ??
wouldn't that be great ? Like FFXII ??

What do you guys think ?

Like in Final Fantasy XI with trusts? I'd be down for that but I believe XI only really did that because the game doesn't have many players and it's a substitute for that I guess.
