Everyone wishes that RMT spammers and dubious hackers and bots were banned, accounts revoked and never to return again in a prompt fashion. However, the staff appointed with the task of dealing with illicit activities is probably not as big as the, say, the staff Blizzard has appointed to do the same job (and even they take time). When it comes to RMT it's nigh impossible to be preventative. Like a computer virus, you can't prevent new ones from being created, but you can take measures to keep your system (and information) safe.

Any MMO with an anti-RMT team are doing what they can, but since the sources of these RMT companies are based outside of the legal jurisdictions of Japan and the United States, there's nothing they can to shut it down. Top it all off, as long as there are those who continue to use RMT services, cheating scripts, or simply don't care that others use them (because they honestly believe that it doesn't affect them), these annoyances are here to stay. Personally, I'm for a little naming-and-shaming of those whom are proven to use, or condone the use of, RMT and bots.

And then there's one final thing to consider: MMO companies tend to gather all of the information that they can, how bots are currently working, what keywords do RMT spammers use to by-pass filters, making sure as many claims of illicit activity are genuine and not made out of harmful spite. And then, once they have enough information, they work on a plan (that they've most likely been developing during this whole time) to make RMT and botting activities more difficult.

Now some of you are probably thinking "Why don't they [Square Enix] just make it so you can guy gil directly from them?" Well it doesn't always work. Blizzard implemented a similar feature for Diablo 3 and then there's the token system in WoW. Neither have done nothing to stem the tide of botting and RMT.

In conclusion, everyone here can agree that the RMT spam is irritating. Botting is annoying. Some of us have given up on reporting and our statuses are set to /busy just so we can keep our sanity while playing.
