Me and my buddies started in beta phase 1 on PS3. None of them stayed by Decemeber 2013. While in-game friends send me invites, I'm dominantly solo. That said, I'm suffering from being able to progress due to NOT having "friends" or a static. My sub expires on 3/15, and I'm not too happy about re-upping.

so yeah basically either you get friends and have fun or fk it right?

also why dont you find a static group? there must be plenty

Don't statics just bash their heads against primals and "raids" (or boss rushes w/e) till they get tired?

In my experience statics are usually actually very close knit and have a good time just generally playing together, whether it be during progression, farm, or even more casual stuff like doing some dailies, maybe even some pvp

Back when I was in a static, sure we might be banging out heads against a wall trying to make some progress, but that didn't stop us from having a good time and laughing, making jokes, just generally having a good time.

But, since I stopped raiding with my static I've been basically a loner in game. I might chat a bit in PFs I join or "try" and have some fun in /shout in places but I keep to myself.

And that's fine, because I just genuinely enjoy the game.

Would the game be more enjoyable with a bunch of good friends? Yes, most definitely.
But even without a bunch of friends, I like the game.

I'm solo and doing perfectly fine. Tried a few FCs but it never really turned out well so I just stick to solo.

Raids hold practicly no value to me which makes it easier for me I guess

Eh, different strokes for different folks. Some people are social by nature and some aren't. I'm not. I have played this game since launch ( well since 1.0 launch) and never made a single friend in game. My friends list has always been empty and I've never been in an FC or even a linkshell. And I play on a nearly every day basis.

It depends on how social you are...for example, I'm not. I could probably be a hermit a la Thoreau, but...here we are
If you're someone who needs to interact with people, you aren't going to like to play games by yourself. Not just this one, any game, really.

Though while I personally enjoy making friends and hanging out with people, it certainly isn't something I seek or expect when I log on. My friends in my FC actually had to tell me to say "hi" when I log in so they know I'm on, since I never do...I just log and play.

I am in a guild of people who do things routinely but they are far beyond my skill level so I tend to slowly lone wolf my way through content. I enjoy it! However I am also used to it.
