    Job Wishlist for Samurai

    As we all know, Samurai has been hinted (but not confirmed) to be one of the few Jobs to be released down the line.

    Here's what I envision Samurai to be as a DPS. (Though changing a few things, it can easily become a Tank Job as well.)

    I designed Samurai to be more like it's XI counterpart with a few touches from other FF games.

    Also note other possible combinations will work if one is very verse with how the Skillchain system works.

    (S) = Skill gain by leveling.
    (J) = Skill gain from Job Quest.
    (T) = Job Trait
    SC = Skillchain

    Level 1 Self-SC

    Kasha > Enpi - Transfixion (Light)
    Yukikaze > Kasha - Compression (Dark)
    Yukikaze > Koki - Impaction (Thunder)
    Koki > Kagero - Liquefaction (Fire)
    Jinpu > Enpi - Scission (Earth)
    Koki > Jinpu - Detonation (Wind)
    Gekko > Yukikaze - Induration (Ice)
    Enpi > Gekko - Reverberation (Water)

    Level 2 Self-SC

    Gekko > Kasha - Fusion (Fire/Light)
    Enpi > Enpi - Distortion (Ice/Water)
    Jinpu > Kasha - Gravitation (Dark/Earth)
    Yukikaze > Gekko - Fragmentation (Thunder/Wind)

    Level 3 Self-SC

    Jinpu > Kasha > Gekko - Darkness
    Yukikaze > Gekko > Kasha - Light
    Shoha <-> Kasha - Light
    Fudo <-> Rana - Darkness


    Sengikori EX: Shoha > Kasha > Light > Fudo > Light
    This means 100 Potency > 100 Potency > 400 Potency + Debuff > 100 Potency > 400 Potency.

    Side note:
    All SC's elements are mostly visual elements since XIV lacks elemental wheel.
    Since all SCs are considered magical, Light + Debuff + Light on Magical Defense Down = Yummy DMG.

    Delivers an attack with a potency of 100. (Recast 2.5s)
    Combo Action: Tachi: Enpi
    Combo Potency: 200

    (S)Lv 6: Blade Bash - Delivers a ranged attack with a potency of 120. (Recast 2.5s)

    (T)Lv 8: Enchanced Strength
    Increases strength by 2.

    (S)Lv 8: Tachi: Koki
    Delivers an attack with a potency of 120. (Recast 2.5s)
    Additional Effect: Damage over time. Potency 30
    Potency: 30 Duration: 20s (Konzen-ittai 30s)

    Delivers an attack with a potency of 180. (Recast 2.5s)

    Allows two weaponskills to form a Skillchain. (Recast 90s)
    All Weaponskills deal damage with a potency of 100 while under the effect of Meikyo Shisui.
    Skillchain Potency: 200 Duration: 15s
    (EMS) Resets all weaponskill timers.
    (EMSII) Allows three weaponskills to form up to 2 Skillchain.
    (EMSII) Light and Darkness Skillchain Potency: 400 to all nearby enemies.
    (EMSII) Additional Effect: Lowers target's magicial defense. This effect can only be applied once per usages. Duration: 10s

    (T)Lv 32: Enchanced Shikikoyo
    Doubles the amount of TP given by Shikioyo.

    (S)Lv 34: Tachi: Habaku
    Delivers an attack with a potency of 100. Additional Effect: Stun Duration: 3s (Recast 30s)

    (J)Lv 35: Tachi: Shoha
    Delivers an attack with a potency of 100. (Recast 2.5s)
    Combo Action: Tachi: Ageha
    Combo Potency: 220

    (T)Lv 36: Enchanced Meikyo Shisui

    Allows user to perform Light and Darkness Skillchain as first Skillchain during the effect of Meikyo Shisui. (Recast 60s)
    Increase critical hit rate by 20% Duration: 20s
    Allows the use of Tachi: Katien and Tachi: Fudo when the effect is active.
    Can not be used with Hasso or Seigan. Effect ends upon use of Hasso or Seigan.

    (J)Lv 54: Tachi: Kaiten
    Delivers an attack with a potency of 180. (Recast 30s)
    Potency increased to 220 when executed from a target's rear.
    Effect: 30% chance of next critical hit will reset the recast timer while under the effect of Sengikori.
    Can only be used while under the effect of Sengikori.

    (J)Lv 56: Tachi: Fudo
    Delivers an attack with a potency of 180. (Recast 30s)
    Potency increased to 220 when executed from a target's flank.
    Effect: 30% chance of next critical hit will reset the recast timer while under the effect of Sengikori.
    Can only be used while under the effect of Sengikori.

    (J)Lv 58: Spirit Blade
    Releases the spirit in the user's great katana. (Recast 60s)
    Additional Effect: Negates the additional TP cost while under the effect of Hasso.
    Additional Effect: Deals unaspected damage to a target with a potency of 1200 while under the effect of Sengikori. Casting time: 2s
    Additional Effect: Recovers TP per hit while under the effect of Seigan.
    Additional Effect: Increases critical hit rate of the next attack to 100% while not under the effect of Hasso, Seigan, or Sengikori.
    Effect ends when Hasso, Seigan, or Sengikori effects ends or upon switching effects.

    (J)Lv 60: Tachi: Rana
    Delivers a threefold attack, each hit with a potency of 100. (Recast 90s)


    (PS, To me it sounds a bit OP but I tried to balanced it XD.)
    (PSS, I blame the FFXI Crossover event for this.... I want my SAM Job.....)

    This is cool and all but, can you write down their BASIC combos? I assume it would be like Monk, where you have to follow set patterns unless under the effect of Meiko Shisui. But there's so many moves here I can't decipher their 1-2-3s

    Fixed. They work just like DRG and NIN in terms of 1-2-3 combo. The way Meikyo works, similar to NIN's Mudras where you have to input the correct combination of weaponskills to get the desire Skillchain. The first Skillchain would net you either Lv 1 or Lv 2. If you input, say Yukikaze > Gekko > Kasha. Yukikaze > Gekko will form Fragmentation, a Lv 2 Skillchain. When you do Kasha after that, It activates Light Skillchain.

    I wish they made Samarai the tank and Dark Knight the dps.

    Dark Knight tanking goes against everything the Dark Knight ever was. Dark Knights were all about taking extra damage in order to unleash damage on their enemy. I'm bitterly disappointed I can't dps as a Dark Knight.

    A bit hard to do w/o getting hit from a raid wide AoE and possibility end up killing yourself. I remember those days where DRK would Berserk > Last Resort > Souleater > Guillotine at the wrong time and they ended up killing themselves lol.

    It would just separate who's a good DRK and the bad ones. It's like B4B, use it at the wrong time and you could die

    Dark Knight should of been a mostly DOT+Lifetap tank with sacrifice skills honestly. However, any skill that makes you take more damage is horrible.

    Part of it remains thematically in tact. As a tank, they're a all about taking damage.

    I can get behind Samurai being a DPS, though I know I was seeing a lot of talk in the FC perhaps referring to them using a Dual-sword technique, I guess called Niten Ichi-ryū. Assuming its to be based off Musashi
