    Very strange fps limit issue

Hey all, my issue is a strange one. My GPU Core clock has a max of 1367mhz. When I run the game with fps limit set to 15 or 30, my core clock runs as it should, however when I set it to 60 or none (my monitor is 60hz), the gpu core clock goes down to 500-600 mhz. I have tried every single setting I can with nvidia control panel and within ffxiv, dx9 and 11, re-install of the game, and nothing seems to work.

    Specs are the following:
    2560*1440
    I5-3570k
    GTX 970
    16gb ram
    Windows 10
    Nvidia drivers 361.91
    Nothing is overclocked.

Are you sure that the GPU isn't overheating by trying to run at a higher frame rate? In such a situation it will lower the clock speed.

Yup, the temps are fine, under 60 for both gpu and cpu. Other graphic intensive games like witcher 3 or gta5 work fine. 3dmark benchmarks work fine as well.
Also, to re-iterate, selecting fps limit 60 or none and clicking apply immediately drops my core clock speed by half.

Probably an interaction between FFXIV & the nvidia drivers in that case. I'm sure I read of some driver issues with this game but as I'm an AMD user (with my own set of FFXIV vs driver issues) I didn't do much research! =3

How are your FPS when you have it set at 60 or none?

Maybe the GPU is only dropping its clocks momentarily and the monitoring software is reading wrong?

My fps for both 60 limit and none are at 35-40 fps, a far cry from what I should be getting. The clock dropping is definitely affecting it.

Yeah that is pretty low for that setup. Do you have v-sync on in the nvidia conrol center?
Have you tried resetting the global settings in the nvidia control center?

I tried both v-sync on and off in nvidia control panel, I have reset the settings in both ffxiv and nvidia control panels, I have uninstalled the drivers in safe mode and re-installed fresh, and this is still the only game where this happens.
