With 2 of their nuclear powerplant going into possible meltdown and 3 more have shut down, I honestly am amazed that this game is still running. And I'll gladly take server shutdown of any length so that whatever available energy supply can go to more vital area such as hospital and shelther. I can only hope that the loss of life can be minimize and that Japan quickly recover.
I am interested to see how SE will handle this in a prolonged situation. I assume the power outages will be going on for awhile. They destroyed some of the reactors pouring sea water into them to cool them, and I am assuming a nuclear power reactor takes sometime build, or any form of power.
I think it is completely justified to shut them down in japan peoples saftey and keeping necessities powered is much more important then a game.
Maby move the servers to either the EU or NA office temporarily if this does turn into a prolonged event.
in the meantime

It must have been chaos going through 2 natural disasters and a unstable nuclear plant...
Can't imagine being in the middle of such a situation. If SE have to shut down the game then by all means do so. Priorities first and thats more serious than people getting levels or virtual money.
lol this made laugh. Best to keep a positive attitude.

Any idea on when they be going down? I'm sorta thinking of this as a good thing as it let me catch up on other stuff...though I hope those this and everyone else in Japan they recover soon...I like others was surprised these servers wre even up. I was plying when I heard news about it and was like...wait how am I still playing.
I don't mind the decision to temporarily shut down all game servers at all. Right now, they should invest the electricity in buildings who need it the most. I'm surprised myself that the game is still running currently, while in the meantime Japan faces a huge crisis and has to deal with all this.
Furthermore, millions of people are without water and electricity and with this in mind I can't even think of playing a game while there are lots of people suffering over there.
We all can just hope that the situation will calm down as soon as possible and those people stay safe and are getting help in every way that is possible.
It's official.

Eorzea is going down for "at least" a week. The forums and Lodestone will still be operated.
Remove "possibly" from the topic. It's been confirmed:

lol
Even larger LOL.
Largest LOL.
Some people take that "Report Post" button too seriously.
I hope servers don't go down. I was hoping on poking my head into a new friend's linkshell tomorrow for some RP fun.
