I always tell be people to do what they enjoy most. That is, after all, why you are playing the game. However, you do have to take into account that you will be grouping with others, and in these cases the experience is shared. It will be important to them and you that you have secured the abilities that will be useful for group play. In the lower levels, I'm guessing it isn't as important, but it will become more so as you progress.

Personally, I'd go crazy seeing those 'additional traits' slots empty as I got closer to 30 when those secondary traits will only make my character stronger and have more utility available if I level several classes. That's what makes the game fun for me, but it might be different for someone else.

Leveling alt classes seems a bit harder to do without the main story to give those larger chunks of exp in between.

http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wi...ndship_Circlet (there is also another head slot exp bonus item, but stops working at 11, from the original collectors edition) is another awesome item to get if you still can. Works for all classes / jobs

Using both of those, and food for 3% bonus, and being in a FC (guild) that runs their exp buff will help you with any cross class skills you might want for your main class, as well as crafting.

Make sure you also unlock the side quest related dungeons, so you don't miss out on them....like I did lol

I think that was true once, but not any more. Nowadays you get the same armory bonus regardless of how much higher level your main class is. (+100% exp if the lower-levered class is below level 50, then +50%)

It is really hard to tell what posts out there about this game are current, and what ones are no longer valid That and my FC is running on older info it seems lol

Best to wait until after lv17 main story quest before starting to many side jobs.
So can hire 2 retainers for extra item storage.

I recommend lv30 asap so can do chocobo quest at Camp Tranquil - South Shroud.
Unlocks combat chocobo which can help you level other jobs. <3 Choco Cure
