Then you set yourself up for disappointment from the beginning sadly
These were always going to be as bad as ponies when they first came out.
Hell for what people are reporting it looks like they even have better drop rates.
I've seen 4 whistles and only done about 15 runs... Idk I'm sure there's unlucky people but half you guys are straight up lying, inflating your 'runs' 100-200% because 'it's the same thing' no... Wtf lol
Heaven forbid some stuff in this game stays rare for once. If you can be bothered to wait then they will more than likely up the drop rate in later patches like the horses. If not then well, better keep on grinding if you want it now.
I don't think I'll ever understand the "Prestige" angle, but I don't think I can deny that some people genuinely care about... such an arbitrary thing. xDIn the case of vanity, low drop rates are generally placed there for the prestige. It's as much of actual content as any other glamour/vanity piece added to the game is considered actual content. For people farming them right this very moment, knowing that the drop rate will increase in the future, they are farming for that prestige... whether or not they realize it is irrelevant.
Once the drop rate increases however, the general value goes down because prestige becomes non-existent, but you get the self satisfaction of having it if that's a benefit to you or anyone else. It's one of the same reasons why Savage or endgame in general doesn't just rain all equips to everyone at the same time. There's prestige and arbitrary value in being one of the few to first obtain them before anyone else.
Nope sorry. I have 33 Bismarck tokens and 70 Ravana tokens to prove it, and they are all brand new since the patch hit. I had previously discarded all tokens from running this content back when it was released. I've seen exactly two Bismarck whistles and I rolled an 11 and 57.
Well the the droprate is indeed very bad.
88 Ravana runs since patch and it dropped 5 times ( thankfully i got the 5th one )
174 Bismarck runs and it dropped 3 times. ( Yes i play alot, but i still need it )
Im waiting to win Bismarck bird before i can move on to the other two Exs.
Thankfully i can use all the tokens to buy weapons for my GSM desynthesis.
The "prestige" thing you mention is exactly why I stopped using Kirin after they buffed the droprate. I got it before buffs and to my eyes it has now totally lost is value and isn't rare anymore. Especially now that you can unsynch stuff.
Call me hipster but yeah i don't like to use mounts and minions the majority of people can easily get aswell.
Thats why i ride Nightmare in ARR maps, Rose lanner falcon in HW and run around with a wind up Twintania.
When 4.0 comes and the "future-Kirin-bird-whatever" becomes alot easier to get just like ponies, i will surely stop using it too.

Which is how about half of the 8 whistles I've seen out of 130 Bismark runs turn out.
Any variation of "I'm tired," "I'm hungry" or someone else drops and they take it as an opportunity to slide out.
You are extremely lucky to have 7 other people who cooperate until everyone gets something. If it wasn't your raid static or FC, then bravo.I got my Bismarck bird after 4 nights of farming the duty with the same group of people
I don't use mounts because they are rare and give me some special snowflake feeling, I use the ones I like. I like a few of the birds, which is why I want them. In all actuality, I love the new Zu mount 50 times more than the primal birds, but that is only available through airship ventures, or millions of gil on the MB.
I second this. I know most people say "it's RNG get over it" but still, it is disheartening when you farm something for days without so much as seeing a whistle, when friends come along and say "yeah we saw six drop in one day!".
