Is an official database too much to ask for?

Two and a half hours. That's how long I've spent trying to get new gear for my BTN and MNR -- both of which are 30.

The majority of that time has been spent combing through the Lodestone recipes list and sites like ZAM/Yellow Gremlin/FFXIV-DB.

Honestly, XI was my only other MMO, so I'm not too sure what the standard is, but this can't be right, can it? If SE is qoing to leave it up to fansites to list the where and how of basic equipment acquisition, shouldn't they at least give those sites the information?

I mean, it seems these sites have no idea about certain changes like what NPCs sell things. So I need to look up on a fansite what items are good for my character, then on the forum 1.19 patch notes to see if it's sold by an NPC if it's missing from the wARDS -- because god forbid if there was a complete listing of potential items there -- then over to the Lodestone recipes list to see if I can make it. But even then I'm not sure if I can make it because the recipes may be 21 or they may be 30, who knows?

Sad thing is, after all that time, I still can't find some equipment dated or new for some slots, so I have to go back to wearing items which are "optimal" for between 7 and 18 until I get to 38.

if 11 was your only mmo just know its standard now a day for a server to be only down for 20-30 minutes for hot fixes.
XIV takes 2 hours to change a fishing rod. Or atlesat when Tanaka was in charge I'm sure after the new servers come in we'll be a bit more up to date.

As for the item lists and shiet YG is working on it fortunately and thank twelve they are!

Its also standard for servers to go down every week for hours at time to perform maintenance.

I dont mind more information being shown ingame but lets not act like other MMOs dont let third parties handle wikis and such.

No it's not standard. Most other MMOs make crafting recipes visible IN GAME. But if I remember right, Yoshi was working on this too.

Great links! But I use this for gathering.

As for OP: having played FF MMOs for... a lot of years, it's clear they want us to experience fun from finding this stuff on our own. With which I agree/disagree all at once. Sometimes it really is too frustrating.

A hint, though: Could've saved yourself hours of searching if you'd just looked at the Market Wards first and compared there. Unless you also wished to compare with NM drops (though I'm not sure DoL and DoH have gear dropped from NMs, I honestly haven't looked).

Agreed, SE do need their own official database, FFXIV-DB.com is pretty easy to use though.

Use the advanced search put in 25-30 select body (or whatever slot you wana look for), tick botanist and you will get suitable body gear for those specs.

If SE doesn't want to do this, maybe they should support the people going out on a limb doing their work for them and put their links on the lodestone website, or maybe even a little funding for hosting?
