    Lalafell Models Need Revisited

I hope this is the right forum.

I play several lalafell and something really stuck out like a sore thumb while I going through the Little Lady's Day repeatable quests. The head of a lalafell in game is much larger than their head shown in your game art.

In the game art, a lalafell's head appears more or less the same size as the head of characters of the other races. Yet, in game, a lalafell's head is much larger. Looking at Ulala compared to the other two Songbirds, it's clear something is very much off.

I'd like to suggest that the current game lalafell models be reexamined so they better match the Square Enix vision.

I think that is deliberate - the character models in FFXIV (or at least the original five races) are very closely based on counterparts in FFXI - and this is most apparent with the lalafell - their FFXI cousins the tarutaru were even worse, having huge heads on tiny bodies. One of the original design briefs for FFXIV 1.0 was that they actually wanted to move FFXI players into FFXIV and one of the ways that was to be accomplished was to have similar player races.

Thus FFXIV's taru counterparts are childlike with big heads on small bodies (an early joke about lalafell was that they were 'teen taru'). Really I don't actually see this ever being changed for this reason - it would just be too costly in time, money and development resources that could be better spent designing new content for the game or fixing long standing issues.

Also artwork is usually not 100% reflective of what actually occurs/appears in the game, artists tend to add their own touches or embellishments to the artwork which are not canon to the game, thus can be quite misleading. You know the old saying, "Don't judge a book by it's cover"? That definitely applies here with official artwork - what is shown in the artwork does not necessarily match in game content.

I was afraid it was something like that. l love the lalafell as they are portrayed by the artists. Just look at that little guy! He's awesome. With his ready smile, you can tell who the heart of the group is.
