Would like to see more of these please. They were kind of fun in 11 trying to figure certain ones out. At the very least it could that the community could talk about on the forums other than trolling crap.

Yep. I also missed items that are named in a way that told you what it's latent/hidden effects were active by, i.e
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Valiant_Knife
Which is sort of reminiscent of the Chicken Knife from FFV. (I believe that was the translated name)

DO NOT WANT !!
Why is it that FF11 fans have to have everything hidden and hard to understand, seriously ?
Why can't things be plan to see in the text and easy to understand.

Latent Effects are in plain to see text. Hidden Effects were just additional perks. Other MMOs have 'latent' and 'hidden' effects as well, they generally fall in line with:
"You gain an additional 20 DPS being one of (god)'s bloodline."
Which you have to then remember which race is linked to (god).
Not to mention, most latent/hidden effect gear in XI weren't even game changing or worth using, everything that was is laid out for you, i.e:
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Lancer_Plackart_%2B2
Pretty explanatory lol.
I disagree. The game can have hidden "easter eggs" without being confusing and difficult. If done correctly, a little mystery and challenge in discovering new things in the game can be fun.

Because it's fun!
Figuring out secrets and hidden tricks is entertaining, like a big secret puzzle. Having absolutely everything laid out and ready for you is kinda boring. I for one love the extra meta challenges. It's why I love the original Zelda. You had to do some work on your own. You didn't always have maps, and the ones you did have weren't very clear. You had no direction beyond a few subtle hints. You had to figure things out and think about them.
It feels to me that a lot of games these days make it far too easy. Not a lot of thinking involved, you just move from point A to point B like the NPC told you.
But whatever, I'm being nostalgic.

I'm not really sure you understand exactly what he is asking for.
He isn't asking that every single item have numerous behind-the-scene stats that we don't have access to... he's asking for a select few items to have some easter eggs associated with them, some hidden information that people can discover and discuss.
It could put some of the NM drops back into the limelight now that materia has made most of them obsolete.

Well it seems thats already taking place and the "people" who have the info aren't discussing it so who cares :PI'm not really sure you understand exactly what he is asking for.

It really comes down to magnitude in this case.
OP is asking for a small number of items to have some secret effects for people to uncover. That kind of stuff can be fun for people to discover and share with each other. Not showing the effects on any food item at all, on the other hand, pretty much every FFXI player hated.
100% this. Not knowing how much of certain stats to stack until you reach the soft cap is not fun. Finding out you're put more and more points into a stat, only to realize 20 of those points were sitting there giving you less than 25% the output due to diminishing returns is not fun.
Figuring out those stats is only "fun" for people who feel like playing with a spreadsheet. Players who actually just want to play the game do not find it "fun" to have hidden stats that only activate when you're at 10% HP with poison debuff facing the East during a full moon in a double blizzard during Firesday with Garuda summoned and 15 out of 18 people in the alliance subbing /war.
Pro-hidden stat people will say that is a ridiculous exaggeration. I say hidden stats directly affecting your character's performance is a ridiculous concept in an MMO.
