just hit 50 on an alt as paladin

so, how do you go about gearing now? still got paladin quest blues and level 49 sword. cant afford 90k gil i115 gear.. dont wanna run level 50 dungeons because everyone will expect a speed run(i dont even know how to in each hard mode dungeon anyway) aggro will definitely be an issue with hw geared dps. help

Do the main story quest, iirc you get a weapon before you have to go fight anything, and then different gear and different weapons from there.

Level wise, you don't need t be higher then 50, though I think you might hit 51 with the MSQ stuff. And of course ilvl wise 130 is the highest before HW stuff.

I was 54 when I entered Ishgard on my elezen alt. I just crafted myself a ilvl115 weapon and had my friend mail it to my alt. But I admit this can be problematic to a tank when there's quite a few primal fights before you get to Ishgard. But then there's another tank you can ask to tank instead. Keeping hate against people with ilvlover9000 can be a pain. :S

You also get a fair amount of Poetics just from doing the HM primals, and from running your Main Scenario roulette every day. I was able to get my WHM to 120 before doing the Chrysalis - and if you're feeling industrious, you can even open up CT and try to get a run in of that every night.

If you're in blue 130 gear (which you can do with just Poetics now), you won't need to replace anything until you're 55 at least--and even then, only the gear from the Aery is (slightly) better. You could probably even go without replacing most of it until you hit the Vault or Great Gubal Library.

Do the first steps of the relic quest. An i90 weapon can carry you up to HW.

Don't panic for speedruns. Being a first time clearer will give bonus poetics for those that come with you, and with the Anima weapon, they'll thank you for that
