Most Balmungians speak English so I never had this problem.
And I think most French Canadians and European people can speak English as well. Maybe they can't communicate because they're on the PS4.

French and on PS4 here !
And yeah, most of the silent players are from PS3/4; i've obviously met some PC players really quiet also (the ones who never say "hello" or "bye" for example). But yeah, most of the time they are on PS3/4.
Who never tried the virtual keyboard on PS3/4 can't understand why that's better to stay silent. It's just awful...

keyboards works on PS4
I don't know how it is in france, because they really love their language (it's even protected by law), but english is a main subject in german schools.
But it is a difference between using english just in school and using english to communicate outside of school. But german players should at least know basic english good enough.

Nah, not racist. Xenophobic mabey.

I've encountered more bad E players than D or F (I can't mention J as there's very few of them on Chaos). It does totally make sense from a statistic point of view. More E than F+D combined, 'nuff said.
The problem is, however, when bad or failing players can't follow simple chat instruction and make the entire party fails. And there you have this F or D that can't understand a word in E and just got paired with E ppl using duty finder even if he just taged F language. He will just keep failing and make everyone focus on him, thus making F/D players a bad rep. But honestly, this is all because we all use E for party chat and because not everyone can speak it. Sometimes, when you see that F/D players that keep failing, be smart and stop using English that will sound russian or greek to them, use autotranslate.
I have to admit that reading minority language in a party can be irritating (that can be two F players talking F when 6 other are E, but same is when 2-3 E are pesting in party chat because the 6 other F players dares to speak F in an almost full fr group, works the same).

My response to this is to fire up Bing Translate (sorry, Microsoft man here), select the target language as their language, type in what I wanna say in English, have it translate, then copy paste the translated version into the chat. Not perfect, but they generally understand it.The problem is, however, when bad or failing players can't follow simple chat instruction and make the entire party fails. White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Yup, should works pretty good =) I mean nobody cares if it's grammatically perfect or not, as long you make sure that the guy understand the strat you're explaining, it's fine (god when you read what native french player are able to write in french... google trad or bing can't make worse than that XD )My response to this is to fire up Bing Translate (sorry, Microsoft man here), select the target language as their language, type in what I wanna say in English, have it translate, then copy paste the translated version into the chat. THB, I've never heard of that happening. The DF language selection is there to pair you up with other people who have the same DF language ticked. (So if you tick all four in DF, you can get paired up with anyone who ticked any of those languages; they don't have to tick all four to be paired up with you.) The selection in your character profile is different (you know, the one you get to when you rightclick(PC) your name in the party list, or anyone else in either party list or search window, and choose View/Edit [whatever they're called again, I forget]). And the languages you see if you open up the party window is not the languages they selected in DF, but the languages they ticked in their own settings.
The thing is, the majority of players on EU and NA data centres seem to play with E only -- because for most non-French, non-German and non-Japanese people, English is usually the language they understand the best of the four. So people checking only F or only D tend to have longer queues, because they have a smaller selection of people. Hence the whole 'tick all languages for faster queues' mess =/
On a random, non-DF related note... Some time back, when you still needed 10 mobs of each type, me and my flatmate were killing mobs for our Atma Books, and ran into this French guy who pretty obviously was on the same book as us (we ran into him in two places right after each other). We tried to work with him, tagging mobs and then leaving him to kill them (because tagging = auto-count, even if you don't hit it even one more time), or splatting the mobs he'd tagged, just so we'd both get the mob to count. In turn, he started spouting French stuff at us. Neither of us speaks French, so we had very little clue as to what he was talking about, except that it wasn't too friendly. We said that sorry, we didn't speak French. He ignored it. And due to him keeping on doing it, my flatmate finally got annoyed enough and started responding to him. In Swedish. Mostly just comments along the lines of "well, if you can argue with us in your language when we've said we don't understand it, I'll just do the same, then".
Finally, the guy says, in English, "I don't speak Turkish." My flatmate responds (also in English), "That makes two of us." The other guy goes, "This is French server. Go away." (paraphrased, since it's a while back). And we just stare at him as if he's got five arms and eight eyes. Wut? Sure, there's a bunch of French people/FCs on Phoenix, but... there's also a bunch of German, Spanish and even Finnish FCs. And, of course, plenty of English-speaking FCs. I...really have no idea how he could have gotten the idea that Phoenix was supposed to be a French server O.o

I was being told it was the case honestly ('bout being paired with ppl without considering languages tag), but reading answer I m actually doubting it now. Truly, ppl that tag in DF languages they can't use are lame, especially in trials or raid where you do have to co-ordinate or follow chat orders.THB, I've never heard of that happening. What you've being said on Phoenix is incredible, even on moogle which could be considered french server, there's still a majority of E speaking ppl, I guess some ppl are just helplessly dumb.
Seen that too. As french, I can tell that most of bad players I 've seen were E (cause they are the overwhelming majority of players, not cause they're especially dumb), then D. Make sense when you know History, intelligent ppl try to surpass this antagonism, but meh... prejudice stays
I mean, I know it's stupid and all community have probably same amount of bad players, but I can't help to have a bad feeling when I'm paired with D only speaking ppl.

It has nothing to do with race so how can you be racist because of that ?
(or maybe you consider French ethnicity as an inferior race lol)
